I think you have missed my point completely. I agree that renting space out to non competing business is a plausible move. It makes sense to bring in an income stream instead of sitting on dead space. What I do not think is wise is extending a premise to create a hypermarket of 80k square feet. The land securities move for property is great however they need to be doing more of this, they need to reduce stores and selling off land to allow for property to be developed is a better idea than renting it out to the likes of Argos. I am not being funny but when was the last time you went in to Argos or Jessops or the likes? Never.. If you want items from those stores you order online, if you want to see the product you go to currys etc to view it. The smaller stores renting the space is not a sustainable income source. It's sad to say but in today's world there are only certain areas where property is key. We all need a supermarket sure but what we don't need are huge stores trying to compete with the likes of MnS. Sainsburys and the like are aimed to middle class but the numbers show that the middle class are now gearing towards lidl and aldi with the savings allowing them treats at waitrose, booths and MnS something they would not have considered years ago. I fear the world is changing, we are not in France and sainsburys will never and can never act as a mini precinct..

And your referring of rental of space to other shops is plausible however unfortunately shops should be reducing their footprints so to me this is a little too late. The online shopping boom is the way forward and where the business is really taking off, people these days do everything online and this market is there for the taking. By reducing their footprint not only would they save but they could position themselves to be market leaders offering decent discounts and incentives to shoppers. The management needs shaking up, they are too stuck in an old way of working. I have no doubts long term this is a recovery play but it really is a turtles pace and right now they need to spend a lot to get into the snails race. For now, this is isn't stacking up..

What are they doing about floor space? They are opening 80k square feet premises.. not a wise move when everywhere else are downsizing.

I am not sure on the rise today it confused me a little. I think sainsburys need to reassess their business model... Opening hyper stores with more people shopping online, poor clothing range, no incentives for rewards, competitors muscling in for the food markets and all this with Egypt it just isn't in a positive spin. Long term they will turn it around I am sure, right now I think this is overvalued

In terms of your experience where do you see the current SP should sit? I'm of the opinion around the £12.20 mark however this drop off is somewhat confusing given the latest news release?

Vigilant - a lot of what you said is speculation. Nothing much has changed since the last figures were released and the drop in price today is an overreaction to the broker forecast on United Rentals. The theory of equipment purchases replacing rentals is hearsay, personally I believe if the markets were twitchy then the last thing business will wish to do is roll all of their funds in to equipment purchases and assets. If the AHT business was primarily aimed at Russia I can see the sentiment but the forecasts still stand, the business is strong and as much as I dislike a drop in price if I have funds available then like many others I see it is as time to topup. I would like to think so, big trades have gone through at the end of the day and an early morning auction after the RNS. Should the results be good I would expect this to boom, there is a lot of interest in this company since the merger. Let's hope they do well, after Black Friday and the Xmas build up plus the monopoly in their own market I would imagine they have done nicely.
