I work in the coal industry and Indonesia is the biggest producer / exporter of coal. The coal quality is not the best but it can be used in most coal fired generators worldwide. Indonesia is definately a growth area and has unlimited supply and geographically positioned to supply India and China. The article below is slightly misleading in that there are massive producers / traders of coal that are very well established. ie Glencore ,Xstrata, Noble to name a few but I firmly believe that Vallar will be a member of that club in years to come as Indonesia is a very strategic purchase. Current coal prices are well off there highs and 2011 we will see the price rise along with the growth in global demand. The Indonesian financial coal swap was launched last year for hedging purposes and this is growing in liquidity steadily and if volumes can increase to be anywhere near API#4 or the big one API#2 then it is a very good thing for the future of Indonesian coal. Vallar is a good buy in my opinion for the long term. GLA
