Bored on a Sunday morning so I thought I'd look into Volz UK operations. As per this article...

they have acquired 4 UK businesses over the last few years. Looking at companies house data, Volz UK finance director James Marsh is also director of a few other firms, including Volz Financial Services set up a few weeks ago.

The two other firms he's involved with (Pressed Parts & M W Precision) both have the same company address (an industrial unit in Rochdale). Looking at Google street view this unit is listed as Volz Filters UK Ltd on the sign at the entrance to the industrial estate.

These are only small firms, but Volz do seem keen to be investing in UK manufacturing.

Old news... discussed at length yesterday on this board. Article didn't provide anything new that wasn't in the public domain.

With these mask production lines being modular, it shouldn't take much modification to Volz manufacturing to start production of a 5 ply mask with P2F supplying reels of the anti-viral material.

There's a bird flu outbreak near where I live at the moment. Maybe making masks for birds has potential.

The facility mentioned in March is about the nano-material production, not the mask production, which is something totally separate, and what we're currently waiting on

Theres nothing new in the Times article anyway. Everything mentioned is in the public domain. Wouldn't surprise me if the journo who wrote it stuck a cheeky short on last thing Friday hoping for a quick profit from a bit of scare-mongering.

I'd imagine Volz want access to the nano tech developed by P2F for use in their filters. Huge market their i'd imagine and relatively straightforward to retrofit the material into their existing filters. Masks is a secondary business to them but would be very useful to start production now, plus compliment the production line in Nottingham once thats online. Licencing to third parties has to be the way to go though. 3M have an R&D office and manufacturing setup just down the road from Nottingham, in Loughborough, in Gareth we trust. Interesting times ahead whatever happens.

Not sure who is supplying P2F with their line, but found a manufacturer in Spain called Mondragon. Their data sheets say the delivery time is around 6 to 8 weeks depending on what type you buy. We also have to remember our machine will need to be modified to handle 5 ply. This seems to be just a couple of extra reels to feed the line though. Price includes transportation, installation, service and staff training as well. Mid-December sounds about right to be honest if ordered late October / early November

If true then they will be produced by a third party (Volz?) for a guaranteed 20th dec delivery

Wasn't some modification work required to both the new machine out of Spain, and Volz existing equipment , due to the fact our mask is 5-ply and regular masks 3-ply? A small delay shouldn't be fully unexpected.

I reckon governments and organisations will start stockpiling PPE as well. They had their pants pulled down at the start off this having to import inferior product and pay over the odds.

and since Nov 4th we've found out our German partner is Volt Filters. Volz Financial Services Ltd was incorporated on the 9th Nov, and has the same address and directors as Volz Filters UK. Now we have someone apparently hoovering up the stock dumped by BRH and PR. Probably just me overthinking things and making 2+2=5, but could Volz be taking a position in RMS. Would be good news if so. All in IMO so probably wrong.
