You can only think they were looking to maximise the prepayment or their staff bonus. If they were doing this with one supplier what makes you think they weren't doing it with other too. Also read some customer reviews. They aren't good.

I think you have it about right. It should rise because underlying earning are at the top end of expectations but this £1m a day penalty is a risk factor. No more problems and £20 a share is possible in the next two years. If the penalty escalates it depends by how much what will happen but confidence will be shattered.

Bringing forward the dividend and the move to quarterly dividends is welcome and it shows confidence in future cash flows. The lack of any reaction in the share price is a puzzle.

Whether they want to make a one-off payment or pay the royalty APF seem to be in a good position.

I understand the retail sales figures are poor but Card Factory is surely different from other retailers. Buying a £2000 sofa or s £50 pair of jeans for yourself is something you might decide to put off. However s 99p card for a mother, daughter or girlfriend or wife has to be something you wouldn't mess with.

£98 million is a lot of money. It must make people nervous and companies have a habit of coming back and increasing the amount. However Galliford Try have always been very professional. They know the risks of underestimating the amount involved. I have just bought some shares as I believe everything is priced in. The money would have been useful as there are good opportunities in house building in particular at present. With no hiccups I think a couple of years down the line this will be forgotten and the shares will hit £20.

Purely down to luck I sold these with the intention of buying them back. Now I'm in two minds.. On the upside you would think the share price was underpinned by the size of the dividend. However 98 million is a hugh hit. The money could have been very useful in the present housing market and this must limit options. Contracting is good in profitable niche area but chasing growth in general contracting at the minute is difficult especially in light of cutback in the public sector. Margins are tight and risks are high. Refusing fixed price contracts might cut risk but must effect the number of jobs they are able to bid for. I think the company is solid but I don't think the plan goes far enough. Continuing with contracting but not taking on fixed term contracts to me means a reduction in available work in a low margin area. I think I would like to hear a better thought out plan for contracting or putting more emphasis on housebuilding I quite like Henry Boot. It's a lot smaller but has a good mix. Just a bit expensive at the moment.

You would have thought there was plenty of scope and economies of scale to be had from expanding into Europe. Not sure how developed the market is there.
