I work part time at Stansted Airport. This morning I started at 4am. Believe me when I say it was carnage here this morning. Cost of living crisis, what cost of living crisis ?
Numbers of people going on holiday from here is huge.
I appreciate Stansted isn't an easyJet hub but surely this must be being replicated elsewhere
Looking good for Summer numbers I feel
Why this share was once valued at £3.15 and now struggle to hold £1+.. How are we so different now ?
Its pretty much how it works for ALL companies.. Nothing to hide and no surprises in the share price movement on ex divi day.
You're better off thinking "If i buy today will it rise more than the value of the divi price on the run up to divi day?" If you think it will rise, say for example 5p, then buy today and sell before ex divi day. You have then banked 5p instead of the 4.5p divi. Nothing to say it will rise before but quite often does with companies, but the timescale is often longer than a month.
Also tbh I believe most of us here will either be long term holders with paper loss ( and highly thankful that a divi has been restored and the prospect of the share price staying higher and rising over the next couple years and seeing our paper loss becoming a gain ), or a minority of lucky ones who bought in at the 40s.
So if you are solely looking to buy shares short term for the divi there are much better companies in terms of yield. But for longer term hold its a cracking proposition..
Id allow a bit more time than that for the trade to have cleared ... Also you have to factor in a potential rise in share price on the run up to ex divi day may well cost you more than the divi you receive. You may earn more buying now hoping for a nice rise and selling prior to ex divi day. Thats the gamble you can also take. So If you thinks its good value now then buy now, dont wait.
Sounds like the sort of thing i do.. But at least this time im sticking with CARD for a considerable time yet due to paper loss no where near turning positive
About every few months this share pops and then drifts lower again. Someone's earning nicely. Doubt there's a takeover on the Cards ( Pardon the pun )
The only thing i can think of is yet again stunning results leaked and / or maybe news of an earlier than expected divi resumption
Having been watching this avidly for some time, its now clear to me that Ukraine CANNOT beat Russia. I read today about the state of Russian weapons reserves
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-built-military-pre-war-level-us-general-1889569
and I have also read several articles that Russia has ample supplies for at least another two years and its increasing its weapons manufacturing. Couple that with the WEST's lack of reserves, the USA's hesitation in sending further weapons $$$ aid it now gearing toward a fight with IRAN,
RUSSIA is also being fed by CHINA, IRAN and NORTH KOREA, and yes while the weapons are probably not as good as the WEST's, RUSSIA has them and UKRAINE hasn't and isn't receiving anything like the amount it needs. UKRAINE is crying out for troops as they've all been killed or incapacitated, they desperately need artillery shells and air defence kit to name but a few.
The writing is on the wall im afraid and its now time for peace talks URGENTLY.

"socio-demograhic, the fact +80% of card purchases are by females adds to the lack of 'getting it' and its hard for them to understand that for many people xmas might be a budget of 80 quid for 6 loved ones and card factory allows them to fill an entire basket of cards and goodies"
Come to think of it, where i live, Bishops Stortford, I hardly ever see men in there, you really hit the nail on the head re females shopping,.
Also the £££ cost is very true. It also dawned on me that while i can afford dearer cards aka Clintons, I asked myself why should i / do i spend £££s on a card that is going in the bin a week later. Huge waste. Also what turned me onto CARD was the quality increased too without much of a price rise.
The one thing of note with my local store tho is that it is very small and as a result very limited with some of its offerings. I found the anniversary cards and surprisingly the mothers day cards to be very small in terms of choice..
my two penneth !!!
Good luck all and for those that do, Happy Easter
40p ?
There should be some sort of commemorative line for COVID. Bit like Poppy Day
