Fed Chair Powell said on Wednesday that the full effects of the monetary policy tightening are yet to be felt and that there's "more work to do."
The economy decelerated significantly compared to 2021, he added at a press conference following a 50 basis point interest rate hike by the Fed. Price pressure is "evident," with risks elevated to the upside, but the inflation expectations remain well anchored, he pointed out.
However, there is no room for complacency and more evidence of inflation declining will be needed, Powell warned.

Dow dropped 0.95% or 322 points at 2:40 pm ET, while the Nasdaq 100 tumbled 1.40% or 169 points and the S&P 500 lost 1.06%.

As for the future, it's the here and now that matters and that has been met with a 5.5% SP reduction by the market. Not that its a fluid market with very little interest by investors and MM,s alike changing the SP trying their best to generate some interest.

Those who didn't take advantage of the earlier boost with the awarding of the concession I'm afraid will be watching their holdings disappear into constant rounds of dilution and/or throwing more money into rights issues. How else is this going to progress?

We have to put up with anti English jibes all the time here from some moronic Scots and as I'm not in the business of filtering people I feel obliged to answer now and again. No malice, however it's beyond doubt that many many (certainly not all) Scotsmen actually do hate the English and the SNP are supporting their views. Anyone who supports partition obviously doesn't support England.

Look what happened with the recent LDI pensions fiasco, another 'hidden one.'
You now have the BoE and the pension managers blaming each other for the recent gilts upset after Kwasi's budget. I believe, since pension funds have reduced their leverage level. I don't understand it all, but it caused a ruckus at the time.

However these latest banking proposals are just a review, no firm changes regarding retail and investment banking yet. If you're a shareholder you have choices, if you're a saver you have compensation. Is it still £85k?
I've made too much in this sector to change my outlook on bank investment.

UK banks are well capitalised compared to EU banks.
Even now the EU are devising ways to change and water down the Basel III implementation because their banking system is in so much disarray. It's' a big can of worms with constant discussion and fiddling trying to appease the sprawling mess of members' inputs and demands.
We have been very conservative, some would say overcautious here in the UK with banking regs, just look at the recent covid dividend withdrawal.
I'd prefer my money under the rule of the FCA than the cowboy regs over in Europe. Remember they have form already with taking depositors funds to shore up reserves.

From my own experience it's very difficult, no impossible, to get a provider to give you a transfer value and commit to it, simply because you can't deal/transfer in real time. In fact some managed funds only update and publish their value every two weeks. Although of course they fluctuate daily. By the time you commit to the transfer anything can happen, but being a small amount it's probably not so critical.
Most, if not all SIPP providers will do the transfer for you and should be done within two weeks. It's a bit of a lottery and watch the charges on both sides, GL.
