Sorry Mick, if you've got a UK biometric passport you can enter the UK without presenting your passport to anyone in a UK only passport station. I went through one last Friday.

UK passport holders only, walk straight through, present your passport face down and the gates open, usually no or very small queues.
However look at the EU and rest of the world booths, if you can see em, and you'll have a long wait, everyone seen and checked by a customs officer.

Coupled with an unexpected construction PMI figure of 55.8 beating all the so called experts predictions.
