Extrader,
So what do you think all of this really means to us, if anything?
Thanks,
Given all the studies, the demand for ore and the prices, one can only assume this is not being snapped up due to the political environment in a country like RoC.
Any other thoughts?
Personally I think the news will be a waste of good ink. If it has anything worth reading I will be astonished.
I have reached the conclusion that our Mr Trahar is like a lighthouse in the desert - clearly bright but pointless.
I have come this far and will hold until the end of the year then I am out if there is no progress.
Some very interesting articles posted in the last couple of days. Thanks
Quick question. What is there to stop RoC revoking our licence and then doing their own deal with the chinese?
Thanks,
When are Zioc legally bound to give their next update?
Thanks,
Stok,
Interesting find. Thanks for posting.
They should be in politics "lets get all the bad news out in one day".
Personally, I would have left the Shard news for a few days at least.
Startbright,
I understood why they are separate but I do not understand why do them both on the same day.
Given we have been desperate for news for months, why announce the costing and the Shard announcements on the same day? Surely the Shard announcement could have been put to bed weeks ago. Instead , we announce one deal to say the costs have not improved as expected (according to AT video interview) and we announce a further dilution on the same day. If Shard had released the second tranche weeks ago, they may have raised 20% more cash.
This makes absolutely no sense to me or am I missing something. It stinks of either gross incompetence or no respect for the shareholders (or both!)
Am i missing something here or do others feel the same way?

Who knows. I have also asked him a simple question (twice) regarding whether or not some of the team are taking shares in lieu of salary still. Simple question with no deal implications but no answer at all. Pretty poor really. I answered every question my shareholders asked, even if it was that I could not comment st this stage.
I agree with Sooty, they don't give a s*** about shareholders.
Extrader,
There is no need to feel responsible. We are all (largely all anyway) grown ups on this board and I think your posts induce good debate.
I certainly think it will be 1 or 3, and to Caml's point regarding 1, if Glencore were to be buying out ZIOC with a share swap it would not involve the RoC. However, history suggests it will be 3 and this will be a "nothing RNS" at some point in the next week or two.
Personally i will sit on my holding for the rest of this year and then start offloading if nothing happens. As many have said, if they cannot do a deal now, they will never do one and i think they will lose the licence next year if there is no action.
Shrewd,
I am with you on this one. Having waited for months for an update it is a remarkable coincidence that it is looking likely to but on the day of the Glencore AGM.
In answer to a previous post that they could have just said it will be on the 29th, I don't think they could as that would be a huge indicator to the market that there could be an imminent deal.
Of course, if they now announce nothing more than a set of re-costing exercise completion, their timing is beyond stupidity IMO

I wonder if it is being timed to coincide with the Glencore AGM on Thursday?
Sydney,
I wonder what he means by good traction being made? They are only supposed to be rapping up a report they have been working on for 7 months.
Thanks,
TW,
That is my point as well. You could not be that far out with the publication of something that has taken 6 months. I would think that there must be something else they are negotiating as well and something that is so sensitive, they are not breathing a word.
If they now only announce the results of the re-costing, I would say they are either taking the PXXX out of their shareholders or they simply do not give a dam about them.
I cannot believe there is not more going on than we know. The headline numbers required for an RNS from the recosting exercise must have been ready when AT posted the rns would around mid April. Therefore why the continued delay? This RNS alone will not make any material affect on the share so why the cautious approach?
My own business would have made this announcement on time and used the data available at that time with any necessary caveats.
I will be very disappointed if this is all they announce. Maybe just wishful thinking !
ATG,
Thanks for your views. I have always said the re-costing model is quite a milestone to unlocking this. No-one makes an investment without understanding the detail of what is required.
Assuming that is delivered this week, I would expect any serious contender to be announced by the end of the summer but, as i have said, i will give it until Dec.
Thanks,
ATG,
The only reason why a project like this would not progress is either a lack of ROI or risk. Clearly the ROI is great so why are they not queuing up to take it? My personal view is the risks associated with the country and nothing else.
If it is not sold this year, i think they will lose the licence and Glencore wont care. The licence without an investor makes this worthless and the money Glencore will right off is not only chicken feed, it will attract a multitude of R&D tax credits.
I will give it the rest of this year and then offload 80% of my holdings.

If Shard are selling the shares to raise cash for ZIOC running costs as seems to be suggested, why would they not wait until the news is announced and then sell them at a higher price when there is greater demand (assuming it was good news) and so raise more cash?
Or am I misunderstanding this?
Thanks,
