Why would Russia want the whole of the Ukraine? It’s not worth a toss to them the important parts are the coastal and economic regions the parts they occupy.

That aside the personnel and economic cost would potentially ruin them for years.

As for Europe taking Russia same scenario Europe does not have the trained forces in quantity the motivation organisation or industrial capacity to fight such a war it’s already supplied an beaten up 800k strong Ukranian army it would need another trained force far larger and new equipment unless you conscript where is that coming from and what sort of people are motivated to put their life on the line for Europes current leaders?

Then consider the economics Europes economy is broken Germany ran its industry on Russian gas it’s now paying x3/4 times subsequently it’s in a phase of de industrialisation, France like the UK is a basket case currently politically unstable with a leader no one likes and wanting change.

No one is going to put themselves out for these clowns, Zelensky is treading a tightrope without the US and there’s no safety net and no more $$$ he either smells the coffee or face the consequence anything else is for the birds.

Of course they are not going to give up ground they have already won thats not the point.

The point is the onus is on the Ukraine to come to the table and either concede or continue to fight and inevitably lose the Russians practically already have what they want from a territory perspective and lets face it who now is pushing them out, so from their perspective as I see it they have 2 goals?

- Achieve territory gain win via diplomacy.

- Achieve a further territory gain via military action.

Why would the Russians have reason for pretence during talks makes no sense at all, they are the ones forcing concessions because of the current situation on the ground the question is how much are the Ukraine willing to conceed via diplomacy or proceed to lose further if negotiations fail?

Mr Witkoff has been to Moscow on several occasions over the past couple of months the last meeting reported lasting approx 5 hours and is scheduled to go over again this week.

Someone out of their depth would not be given the courtesy of such time frame and effort, they would be in effect be green binned.

I agree stretch pivotal is the word we are seeing a massive change in global trade potentially the death knell of globalisation which saw huge amounts of outsourcing to the cheapest bidder, zero loyalty, while domestic manufacturing was absolutely annihilated along with the cities and towns that grew with it.

This is a historic time will be interesting to see how the UK and EU etc handle this as potentially going to be swamped with the goods from Asia the US market has tariff’d, what will they do reciprocate the tariffs or stand like rabbit in the headlights?

If the Ukraine and Russia manage a cease fire near term the US will take full advantage of the riches on offer further East quite unbelievable when you consider just a few months back, let’s see what happens over the next few weeks and hope for all concerned peace ✌️

Ignoring that, the fact Russia has not been ‘Trumped’ or tariff’d as you say what they do export is essential and what they don’t is sanctioned not a lot of left overs to action in that regard, however I am interested to understand how Trump is going to mitigate the obvious inflation his policy is going to cause in the US?

Is Russia and its resource base a hedge against inflation he clearly does not give a toss for the WEF and the like he clearly appears to want to do business with Russia seemingly more so than his allies none of which have what Russia offers?

The markets meanwhile having a panic attack nothing new they don’t seem to mind the EU’s continual leverage of others for their own self interest but this potentially will create some great buying ops in the market of that I have no doubt.

Russia have no tariff's applied well that appears to imply the US and Russia are working terms to potentially reduce sanctions and trade as the US clearly wants certain resources that are in the area.

Also one point that is clear Trumps tariff's will without doubt create inflation in the US so he's going to have to offset this somehow or his popularity will plummet a la Starmer....well probably not that bad I mean is that even possible but I digress, point is what is Trump planning to offset the impact of tariff's? And who can help him achieve his goals?

Their could actually be some buying opportunities for the negheads, obviously not EUA they have declared it finished, broken, worthless time over but post Trumps tariff onslaught I am sure some opportunities will present themselves on the wider market.

The Ukraine is completely reliant on US funding as well as military hardware, ammunition and intelligence.

The EU does not have the finances the economy the industrial output or the political will to supply the Ukraine for the length of time you suggest the industrial output and cost for ammunition alone is astronomical.

The country has 2 choices a US deal or a Russian one, it’s that stark.
