The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Meoryou, thanks for the information. I can remember the Happy Investor drawing parallels between Looney's ambitions and Orsted. I guess untill we have 20GW capacity producing a revenue stream, the markets will not fully value BP's plans.
Zac, don't listen to usernames Meoryou and others. They are BP Activists not real shareholders. Loafs of real shareholders have lost a fortune because of Looney's green agenda. We have z right to be completely $missed.
Zac, well said.
The underlying factor holding back the share price like a ball and chain is the current CEO and his green policy. During the 2019 financial year oil averaged approx $63 barrel and our share price touched £6 with a $0.10 cents per quarter divi. You have to wonder what exactly is going on in Looney's head, but it certainly doesn't seem to be in the shareholders interests. With oil at $120 barrel he seems more desperate to appease the green lobby than support the shareholders.
Meoryou,
Lord Browne chased a dream and we all know how that turned out. His corporate culture was slated in court suggesting it was a major part in BP suffering $50B in losses.
I think the green dream is overblown, it's no good talking ridiculous share price figures in 10 years time. The future of the company has been gambled on windfarms. What most shareholders need is a immediate reinstatement of the dividend not fantasy dreams of tomorrow.
Meoryou, I've been trying to guess after reading your posts from over the months what type of dog you were walking. Could it be a "Looney's Poodle" or a Bull Mastif or Rottweiler type to keep the shareholders in check. And be careful when looking over people's garden fences. Lol.
"Swimming in cash"
These kind of comments do us no favours. BP is currently enjoying a period of outstanding profitability following the enormous losses incurred during the global pandemic.
Reinstate the dividend Bernard the oppressed shareholders have waited and suffered long enough. Cheers.
"Green Root Vegetable"
Well we nearly got rid of Boris last night. Then perhaps we could have a referendum on "net zero"
Looney may be a convert but I don't think he would get much countrywide support.
For God's sake even Prince William is spouting the same nonsense now. Or has he just realised how much is paid into the Monarchy's coffers from windmill ground rent
Spights, why give us ammunition. Everyone remembers Mr Ratner and his stupid comments. You could draw a lot of parallels with our predicament with Mr Looney. I'm sure even he regrets the way he handled the messaging regarding BP's refocusing on green energy.
I don't think that the UK Government hold a Golden Share in BP.
Continuously reducing debt at the expense of shareholders may lead to a hostile takeover of the company. Personally I would welcome such an outcome but it may not suit everyone.
Meoryou,
What we need is a full commitment from Bernard Looney to maintain BP's level of oil production going forward for at least 10 years.
The green business will be a massive asset hopefully in the future, but we need stability now.
