Lamtree... I think you are generalizing a little bit. As I said, look at his funds over the last decade+, you will still see a better return than having the money in a bank, despite the 2018/19 crash in the fund.
Painting the picture that all funds are just glossy magazines, people gambling with you money is a little ill informed and misleading, however, as with anything share related investment they can go up or down. If funds aren't for you then that's ok, but at least represent a balanced perspective.
As smallT says, no where is safe to store your cash, unfortunately, hence the need for a balanced portfolio of where you stick your cash be it in banks, assets, shares etc.
