Hi Heath. Assuming the storage tank has a sealed lid with the vent pipe (as in an open vented heating system) the level of electrolyte can’t be that high within the storage tank to allow for expansion as the electrolyte heats up when the fuel cell is in use. Even with baffles within the storage tank, the electrolyte (during stormy weather) would create turbulence within the electrolyte system. Just trying to understand.
I requested a reply from this question direct to AFC a few weeks ago, but alas no reply!

As the St Helena steams around the world it will encounter rough seas. The current fuel cell system (L) on the St Helena is of an open vented system. To overcome the problem of electrolyte spillage during rough seas I assume the system would be drained of potassium hydroxide during transit?
Does this mean the fuel cell system will need to be re-commissioned prior to each event?
Any thoughts?

Are there any figures relating to the amount of electrodes that De Nora are currently supplying. Assuming that each 10kw cartridge has 101 electrodes? They must be supplying all the electrodes for the ExE, Acciona and Julick fuel cells. Then off course comes further electrode orders which I would expect news on this?

You can see St Helena tied up far left ‘sea side’ of dock when camera pans. She is the only ship docked on this section at this present time. Hopefully a clear day tomorrow!

This is good news......provided QFI gain revenue from sales as they mention in the RNS. Will be interesting to see what the Open Offer details are. Expect an RNS in the morning with the Book building result.

Hi beach......St Helena currently sailing due west towards Anglesey bound for Falmouth. We should find out what for, when she arrives in a couple of days.
