Tech will also change in the 2025 Explorer, as this will be the first-ever model to feature the new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system. This Android-based infotainment system will feature native Google Maps as its navigation system and will lean on Google Assistant for voice recognition. This will also be the first time the Explorer features available BlueCruise — Ford’s hands-free driving system. It’ll also now feature standard adaptive cruise control.
Finally, the 2025 Ford Explorer’s lineup will shrink to just four trim levels — half of the 2024 model. Its trims will be Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST.

Then adding next year
The BMW 1500 debuted at the 1961 Frankfurt Motor Show as the first of the Neue Klasse models (meaning New Class in English). These vehicles were unlike anything the brand had ever produced, with crisp lines and chiseled shapes influencing the automaker's design language well into the 1990s. Until Chris Bangle showed up.
BMW has a new Neue Klasse on the horizon that, much like the original, aims to revolutionize the brand. And not just stylistically. The modern Neue Klasse name represents an entire architecture for next-generation electric vehicles.
We've already seen the Neue Klasse in concept form (twice, in fact), but the first of those new EVs won't debut until 2025. In the meantime, here's what we know.
https://www.motor1.com/features/707438/everything-we-know-bmw-neue-klasse/
The new BMW i5 comes equipped with Plug & Charge capability and five separate accounts that can be stored in its iDrive system from different charging networks. Spring will bring an over-the-air software update to BMW Operating System 9, which was previously 8.5 on the other i5 models, in addition to the release of the i5 xDriv4e40.
The update includes improved integration with smartphones, such as enabling iPhone users to use Siri voice commands and updating BMW Maps to display local charging stations more effectively.

I dont get too excited about these partnerships, all the chip companies work with everyone so it depends who the T1 is?
They work with Bosch, who working with SEYE atm?
Its a tangled web that is hard to unravel. But if you got partners in various forms in the supply chain theres always a chance :)

Smart Eye has reported results for 4Q23 and full year 2023. The critical reveal is shown in the Group report on page 8. #automotive revenues, while up significantly in 2023, were driven by NRE and aftermarket AIS. AIS revenue was zero in 2022 so not hard to achieve growth there, while NRE is typically low (or negative) margin business. License volume is now being driven by Korea (Hyundai) but analysis shows many of those are the awards with lowest revenues per design win (license revenue assumed €3 per car).
In the latest investor presentation Smart Eye CEO Martin Krantz revealed “cars on road” has not yet reached 2M. The total at the end of 2022 was declared at InCabin Phoenix to be 1.3M, so full year 2023 must therefore be under 700K. Even with a down quarter Seeing Machines reported 815K, which can be validated from its quarterly KPIs. So Seeing Machines is confirmed as the clear #DMS market leader in 2023 based on supplier numbers and guidance.
Krantz further provided guidance that the milestone of 2M cars on road will be hit “quite soon.” He did not say “in this quarter,” or even “next quarter,” implying that this goal won’t be reached until 3Q24 at the earliest.
Smart Eye’s market sizes and its supplier share estimate make absolutely no sense. It presents an estimate for the 2023 global DMS market of ~2.5M cars with Smart Eye holding a 40% share. Based on its own numbers that is 1M cars with its DMS last year, which it was simply nowhere near. For 2024 its forecast is 6M cars with DMS, and a 40% share equates to 2.4M cars, or 600K per quarter.
Smart Eye stated in the Q&A for its 3Q23 results that it would achieve profitability with quarterly volumes of 500K. So based on the information provided, it isn’t at all clear how the company gets to profitability in 2024. That may explain why key people are already leaving. More will become clear in the next two quarters.

sales of smartcore had another year of robust growth and the new launches will help this product line to continue to grow in the coming quarters. we moved up in the value chain in our digital ****pit products with new vision and cloud software solutions that are unique amongst our peers. our latest infotainment and smartcore systems offer advanced camera-based driver monitoring and surround view features that are fully implemented in software, which avoids the need for separate and dedicated ecus, as is the case today. this in-house developed software demonstrates the growing capabilities at visteon in terms of developing automotive specific applications. last month at ces, we displayed the first ****pit domain controller with integrated level one and level two adas features including driver monitoring, which is the next level of ****pit electronics integration that we believe will be a competitive advantage in the future.

colin from 2021 ee times
bmw idrive 8
details are scant, but bmw’s idrive 8 looks like the first integration of an automated driving system with the infotainment system and is set to debut this year on the recently announced bmw ix and i4 models. the automated driving functions are based on mobileye’s eyeq5 processor with aptiv as tier 1. on the infotainment side my assessment is that bmw has designed-out both nvidia’s processor and smart eye’s dms in favor of qualcomm’s third-generation ****pit applications processor running a highly customized version of the seeing machines embedded driver monitoring engine (e-dme)
colin seemed to think link with them back in 2021?
no information is available regarding the tier 1 for the infotainment side of idrive 8, but i would estimate suppliers such as garmin, harman and visteon to be the most likely based on existing relationships. idrive 8 looks to be a significant advance on its predecessor and we will know more as the ix and i4 go into production, scheduled for early in 2022.

GM Expects To Build 200,000 To 300,000 EVs This Year

Must be 10 models in the list with SEE.
The 2024 model year has continued the pace of new electric-vehicle introductions that began in 2022. As usual with new EV models, some have rolled out for 2024 with limited initial availability (in numbers or markets) or as fully loaded “first editions” with more affordable versions to come.
Related: How Do Inventory and Pricing Look for the EV Market?
Price (along with higher interest rates) continues to be a concern for potential EV buyers. Despite some price competition in the past year, the average list price of a new EV remains north of $60,000. And while 2024 was the end of the road for two of the most affordable EVs, the popular Chevrolet Bolt EV hatchback and Bolt EUV SUV, the crop of new EVs for the 2024 model year includes the return of the Fiat 500e hatchback, which will start below $35,000 (all prices mentioned here include destination charges).

At the 2025 Ram 1500 test drive Monday, vehicle development lead Doug Killian told Edmunds that the full-size pickup will be available with the Hands-Free Active Driving Assist system. As its name suggests, this is a hands-off version of the current Active Driving Assist system that is made up of adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance and other advanced safety features.
Like Ford's BlueCruise, GM's Super Cruise and Toyota's Teammate, sensors monitor your eye position while the system is active. As long as you're watching the road ahead, driving on one of the more than 125,000 of premapped roads and the system is working properly, you can take your hands off the wheel and let the car take control. Lane changing is activated by using the turn signal, with the system looking to see if there are other vehicles in your path and blind spots and then it moves accordingly. As with the other systems noted above, Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is an advanced Level 2 autonomous driving system, sometimes called Level 2.5 or Level 2+.
https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/jeep-debuts-hands-free-driving-system-in-2024-jeep-grand-cherokee.html
A cache of map data from TomTom, a high-definition GPS receiver, and the SUV's cameras and radar determine the suitable roads, an infrared camera on the steering column watches the driver's eyes. When available, drivers press a button on the steering wheel to activate the system, gauge cluster and HUD graphics turning green to indicate HFDA is in operation.
Check out the Motor Authority piece for more details on the system. The 2025 Ram 1500 appears to be next Stellantis brand vehicle to get the system, Ram's retail site touting the feature for the pickup and showing the driver's eye monitor on the steering column. We expect the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer could add HFDA to their configurators before then.
As caught by Motor Authority, Jeep quietly introduced its Hands-Free Active Driving Assist (HFDA) technology two years after announcing it. Press releases from 2021 heralding the 2022 Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer touted, "Hands-free Active Driving Assist (late availability) offers hands-off driving at all speeds and lane centering on approved roadways, for even greater driving convenience. The system will predictively slow the vehicle down in tight curves, automatically resume control after driver override and verify that the driver is paying attention to the road." At the end of last year, members of the WL Jeep Forum were still creating threads asking if anyone had heard of HFDA appearing on production vehicles.
Note, HFDA is more advanced than the automaker's Active Driving Assist, the latter essentially being hands-on adaptive cruise control and lane centering. HFDA only works on approved roads, can change lanes after the driver taps the turn signal, and works up to 90 miles per hour.

2. I presume if bought to use with telematics Co they can be in charge of their own monitoring

I think bluecruise with Lincoln aswell is about 9 models and 2 more announced coming soon.
GM offers 15 vehicles with Super Cruise, including pickups, SUVs, the Bolt EUV and all Cadillac models. Up until now, it's largest Super Cruise expansion took place in 2022, growing from 200,000 to 400,000 miles.
Drivers using the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system have driven more than 160 million miles with the technology active, The General has announced, counting only the accident-free trips involving its use for a snapshot of its effectiveness.
GM also notes that 80 percent of Super Cruise users find driving with the help of the system increases relaxation while on the road, and that Super Cruise is rated as the second-most-important factor in buying decisions for GM vehicles.
The General released the total miles driven and customer satisfaction figures at the same time it announced a near-doubling of Super Cruise road coverage in North America. The total extent of roadways offering the system’s hands-free driving will rise from the current 400,000 miles to 750,000 miles once the expansion is complete.
New roadways, including both divided highways and – for the first time – two-lane roads leading to smaller city destinations, will be added incrementally to vehicles equipped with the system. Over-the-air updates are used to expand the network with the highest level of convenience to the vehicle owner. The full rollout of the additional 350,000 miles will be complete by the end of 2025.

General Motors just made a significant hands-free driver assistance announcement that illustrates how different—and similar—GM’s approach is to Tesla ’s . The announcement also demonstrates how the industry talks about driver-assistance technology.
Thursday, GM nearly doubled the network of roads open to Super Cruise hands-free driving technology to 750,000 miles. To put that into perspective, the moon is about 240,000 miles from Earth, and GM says its network is the largest in North America.
Super Cruise can do many driving tasks. It requires human supervision 100% of the time, just like systems from other auto makers.
“GM is all-in on safely deploying Super Cruise as we make the technology available on more vehicles, more roads, and for more people to enjoy,” said Anantha Kancherla, GM vice president of advanced driver assistance technologies, in a news release. “A key part of that is expanding the road network—in this case nearly doubling it again—with LIDAR mapped highways. High-precision LIDAR mapping gives us an operating domain where we are confident in Super Cruise’s abilities.”
