Here is a link to the British Geological Societies answers to frequently asked questions on the Preston New Road fracking site operated by Cuadrilla. (Yes that is the BGS the most well equipped and most knowledgeable organisation with respect to seismicity in the UK)
http://www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/research/PrestonNewRoadFAQ.html
Note the following, under the paragraph heading 'How Big Are The Events' the BGS clearly states.
The magnitude 0.8 ML event at 11:36 UTC on 26 October was around 200 times smaller than the magnitude 2.3 ML event that stopped hydraulic fracturing operations at Preese Hall in 2011. The maximum recorded ground motion was around 0.1 mm/s. This is well below the limits set for quarry operations (6 mm/s). The BGS network of sensors across the UK routinely detects many blasts from quarry operations around the UK with magnitudes of up to around 2 ML every day.
Under the heading 'Why are BGS able to detect such small earthquakes?' the BGS clearly states.
All of the events detected near Preston New Road have magnitudes that are far below our normal detection threshold.
If the general public were fed the experts data on a daily basis instead of the clap trap put out by a handful of activists then things might move along quicker based upon facts rather than upon ill informed scaremongering.
Sparky is right when he called Rizo a celebrity, he is indeed a celebrity now but unfortunately his celebrity status is split between 2 camps, the handful of activists who elevate him to superstardom and then the 95% of the general public who regard him as a complete and utter tool. He reinforces the second camps views by proudly boasting that super tankers will be bringing fracked gas from the US shortly in which case he will no doubt be happy to use the energy supplied by them throughout this winter? He and his fellow cronies don't have the intellect required to see the bigger picture.
Rizo and Aunty Frack are on an ever increasing downward spiral, like their forbears the Luddites all they have managed to achieve is to slow down progress and adversely effect the benefits that could be handed to the general population of the UK. They are unbelievably naïve and the one thing they must be stopped from doing is passing the upper hand to countries like Russia, USA, China et all who would love to have us dependent upon them for our energy needs.
As investors I'm sure that all of the real investors on here would be only too happy to invest in green renewables if we thought they looked like
Aunty, check the title of your post?
If that's the best response you can come up with to the valid points and BGS data I provided then I think you should find another forum more suited to your limitations, lol.
Welcome back Aunty Frack, have you been on holiday with Rizalino?
First off lets stop talking about EARTHQUAKES and confusing (or deliberately misleading) them with the reality of tremors which occur NATURALLY thousands of times in the UK every year.
Second, of course Cuadrilla agreed to the current limits at the beginning of this exercise because at the time it was the best way to move forward, it's what you call pragmatic management to get the ball rolling rather than going into lengthy time consuming and costly debates in order to address issues that can be addressed at a later date.
Third, the limits WILL be relaxed because you only have to look at the BGS annual data to see that there are thousands of micro-seismic events each year in the UK due to natural movement along fault lines within the local geology NONE of which have caused any serious issues in recorded history. Furthermore, it has been well established that coal mining was far more effective with respect to induced tremors than fracking will ever be yet that went on for decades without any major disasters. Common sense aided by Claire Perry and Greg Clarke WILL prevail on this issue.
Fourth, so what if A J Lucas shares are down by 17% today? If you really are an investor in anything at all rather than some sad individual who spends his days massaging his own ego then surely you must have checked this years average SP in which case you will have noted that even with a 17% drop it is still sitting on or about the years average price?
Fifth, if you really want to understand the reality of tremors in the Preston New Road area I suggest you visit this site where you might gain a better understanding and back off with the scaremongering. http://www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/research/PrestonNewRoadFAQ.html
Sixth and finally, the minute the gas starts to flow from Preston New Road and the country wakes up to the undoubted benefits it will be game over and anyone invested in any of the major players will be reaping a very tasty harvest. All IMHO, lol.
It would appear I posted the same link twice in posts below (duurrrr) so here is the second link I meant to send, this is the green map of the UK I spoke of where you will see Historical seismicity of the UK (yellow) from 1832 to 1970 for earthquakes of magnitude above 3.0 and instrumental seismicity (red) from 1970 to present for earthquakes with ML >2.0. Interestingly on both the links I have posted you will notice that most of the seismic activity in the UK occurs on the western side of the country. The advances in technology for monitoring seismicity in recent years has clearly had an influence on detection rates. Considering the propensity of the historical recorded data on seismic activity in the UK going back way before the advent of fracking it will be interesting to see how the data differentiates between natural and fracked events in the future.

Further to this here are statements put out recently by various research establishments.
The process of hydraulic fracturing appears to pose a low risk of inducing destructive earthquakes. A report by the National Research Council in the U.S., which examined the scale, scope and consequences of seismicity induced during fluid injection and withdrawal related to energy technologies, concluded that the process of hydraulic fracturing a well as presently implemented for shale gas recovery does not pose a high risk for inducing felt seismic events. A review of the risks associated with hydraulic fracturing during shale gas exploration and production by the Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering in 2012 concluded that the surface impacts of any seismicity induced by hydraulic fracturing would be negligible. A report commissioned by the Department of Energy and Climate Change in the UK by Green et al (2012) set out a number of recommendations for the mitigation of seismic risk in future hydraulic fracture operations for shale gas. Some of these recommendations were adopted as part of the regulatory framework for future operations.
And here is a link to the Final Report on Shale Gas Extraction put out by The Royal Society which clearly states at item 6 Seismic risks are low. Seismicity should be included in the ERA. Seismicity induced by hydraulic fracturing is likely to be of smaller magnitude than the UK’s largest natural seismic events and those induced by coal mining. Furthermore this report puts forward recommendations which if followed will allow fracking to proceed safely.

Here is another interesting link. After opening the link click on the green map of the UK and you will see Historical seismicity of the UK (yellow) from 1832 to 1970 for earthquakes of magnitude above 3.0 and instrumental seismicity (red) from 1970 to present for earthquakes with ML >2.0. Interestingly on both the links I have posted you will notice that most of the seismic activity in the UK occurs on the western side of the country. Considering the propensity of the historical recorded data on seismic activity in the UK I think even I could defend any arguments levelled at Cuadrilla.

With respect to UK seismic activity open up the link below then drag the 'ruler style' timeline cursor at the bottom of the map fully across to the right to reveal all the earth tremors experienced in the UK since 1970. Hover your cursor over any of the events to see the year and magnitude of the event. As you can see there have been thousands of events from time way before fracking ever existed. Any minor tremors associated with fracking aren't even a drop in the ocean. This map quite clearly indicates that there is nothing unusual about tremors in the Uk and that the vast majority are caused by natural mechanisms within the local geology and absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with fracking.

On another topic some of you might remember Rizalino boasting a few months ago about going up to Scotland for a few days where he would be wearing his captains hat. Funnily enough this statement appears to coincide with a course being held in Scotland by Schumacher College where Rich Loizou 'works' as a learning facilitator when he's not arsing about sitting on lorries. If he ever reaches a ripe old age having spent his life arsing around and consequently can't afford to look after himself in retirement no doubt he will be expecting us to subsidise his benefits from our investments? (xanker)
Rizalino, what a joker, he can huff and puff as much as he likes but we all know who he is, he even admitted to knowing 'that Crane guy' and you know what they say 'Birds Of a Feather Flock Together'. Also, it's nice to see that we are annoying him for a change, lol.
Forget the earthquake ramblings especially if you don't understand the history of earthquakes in the British Isles and even more especially if you don't understand the Richter Scale, lol
Good point Sparky, I suggest that for his next misguided escapade Rizo should seriously consider sitting on a cow for 3 days lol.
Good to see the SP didn't miss him during his holiday funded by her majesty and is continuing it's slow relentless rise. It's interesting to note that the more he tries to ramp it down the more it rises so perhaps we should be encouraging him?
Further to my last comment. If you check the data from the BGS survey in the link I posted and then take the trouble to research the historical data from the time before fracking you will notice hundreds (if not thousands) of tremors recorded significantly above the fracking threshold and NONE of these were associated with fracking. Activists will try to use the slightest hint of a cows fart to blame the resultant minor tremor on fracking but any decent barrister worth his salt would easily be able to argue that it is extremely difficult to blame ANY tremor on fracking given the propensity and magnitude of the number of tremors that occur each year. I rest my case m'lud!
Forget the activist ramping of so called earthquakes. The British Isles experiences THOUSANDS of minor earth tremors every year none of which are associated with fracking. Check out the British Geological Society's records which go back to the 1800's and you will see that we are in fact INFESTED with earth tremors and always have been since long before fracking was even thought of. The link below shows earth tremors recorded in the last 50 days NONE of which were caused by fracking. Then check out the historical data.

Rich Loizou works as a nature connection and land-based learning facilitator. Having lived in various communities for the past decade he now hangs his hat in a land co-op in Devon. He believes the key to peaceful cooperation lays in good communication. Rich currently works with Reboot the Roots, a charity that empowers groups through the use of the creative arts. As a practitioner of Augusto Boal's “Theatre of the Oppressed” he facilitates Forum Theatre for personal and social change. By day he works to foster self-confidence in children and young adults at Acorns, an alternative “small school” in Denbury, Devon. His work engages the connection between head, heart and hands. Rich is constantly learning and sees authenticity and consent as both deeply personal and political issues. He is considered by many to be a complete and utter knobhead.
Sorry about the repeat posts guys I kept getting a message telling me the page had broken when I tried to post, lol
Oooh what a coincidence, Rich Loizou is released from jail (and we all know who he is and where he lives now thanks to media coverage) and simultaneously our old friend Rizalino reappears posting extracts from the dim and distant historical past in the vague hope that we are all too stupid to notice. In the mean time Igas and the rest of us are enjoying the steady climb of the SP as it continues to bolster our bank accounts in a positive direction.
Rizalino clearly considers himself a knowledgeable individual so perhaps he could impart some of his undoubted wisdom for us by answering a few questions. I would like to kick this off by asking 1) Could he recommend a good brand of porridge? 2) What is the best position for sleeping on top of a lorry cab? 3) How does he rate the job prospects for someone with a criminal record? 4) At what age should a guy change from a naïve ill informed idealistic nerdy little **** into a composed rational intelligent wise and financially secure adult?

The 3 jailed protesters have just been freed on appeal (bugger)
It will be interesting to see if Rizalino suddenly reappears too!
Chesh, it's looking extremely likely that our friend Rizolino is currently enjoying the comfort and hospitality of one of Her Majesty's establishments under the name Rich Loizou (one of the 3 jailed protesters) as he hasn't been heard of since they were sentenced. In the event that he should gain access to a computer during his stay let's hope he checks the progress of the SP and also acknowledges a friendly wave from all of us, lol.
