Youre still detecting a hell of a lot more positives than you would have if you didnt do it and so cutting opportunities for transmission.

My experience is in making point of care devices (testing usually done within a laboratory but simplified for use in primary care environments) and can tell you that user error is the usual source of most problems as you are training a user who traditionally is not used to performing these actions (IE training a lab user in a new test is a simpler process as they are experienced with similar tests)

I can only imagine the nightmare of testing usability with the general public the instructions will have to be both simple and incredibly precise. A difficult combination.

Not that this is a criticism of point of care users or the general public . We are asking people to do new things which is why we should expect to see lower diagnostic performance linked to usability.

Long story short its not surprising to see lower diagnostic performance where the users are inexperienced in the methodology

I feel like the phrase "gold standard" has lost its meaning in this pandemic.

It used to mean a well established method backed up by mountains of data and is used as a reference point to benchmark any new state of the art tech against.

Now everything and anything seem to be gold standard

To cause a new pathogenicity in humans a mutation would have to specifically occur within the surface proteins that humans have developed antobodies against. The likelihood of this occurring and taking hold increases exponentially with contact between humans and minks infected with the virus.

Yet another good reason for humans to stop abusing minks (not that there arent enough already)

The lesson we should all learn from this pandemic is to treat the natural world with more respect.

Fantastic RNS today. Really solidly underlines the value of the company outside of COVID testing and justifies a wedge of the market cap.

For me this provides even more confidence that ODX is a solid long term investment with the COVID tests a bonus on top.

Every CE marked test has to have an "Intended use" statement as part of the design history and this is also included in the Instructions For Use

Its highly likely the home test version will be a separate part number which will also require CE marking as its intended use is vastly different.

Dont think theres that much thought process behind it silles.

I too was originally dubious about the purchase of Chinese tests. Especially with the fiasco earlier in the year which meant the government bought a ton of kits without testing their effectiveness first.

As DHSC have independently validated these tests we should have confidence in their activity and purchasing a supply to bridge the gap to UK produced is exactly what we need to be doing right now.

A question for the more experienced heads if I may.

How is it that the sheer volume of sales today has not lead to a further move in the share price?

Is it because MMs have found there's still appetite for people to sell shares in this range? Or maybe because there are lots of sell orders at higher prices in the order book (and so better to remain lower for a while)
