Im not sure anybody has brought out PCR kits to test for new variants yet. My best bet for the technology used for this sort of work would be Next Generation Sequencing which is time consuming and expensive however it would also allow for the screening of any new variants that pop up as it records every base in the genome/area you are targeting.

I would assume they would sequence the whole viral genome as its not particularly large.

Please, please stop sharing misinformation just because it backs up our investment. It is quite possible to test positive for the virus whilst exhibiting a strong immune response to it especially with a PCR test.

Since the PCR test is directed to nucleic acid you can be recovered from an infection and still test positive for quite some time afterwards. Nucleic acid will still be present since it is released when the virions are destroyed.

If one person reads this post and it makes them vcaccine hesitant the damage is done. I want Omega to do stupendously well and give me a return on investment but not as much as i want this pandemic to be drawn to a conclusion.

Wolf76 was it a PCR test? You can still test positive for the virus even when immune due to the low limit of detection of PCR for finding low levels of viral RNA either from carrying at a low level whilst immune or a prior infection. In the wrong run the higher LOD of LFTs may actually prove to be a beneficial tool in this fight.

Fredie7 The FT report has credence but as mentioned numerous times here the party in the crosshairs is the UK government and procurement processes not the RTC or Omega Diagnostics. Also remember that Omega has multiple parties to use its manufacturing capacity alongside and production for the RTC is currently estimated at 10% of capacity.
