Let's reframe this. Why does nobody talk about how PCR tests are so sensitive that they pick up remnant viral RNA weeks after a person has recovered and flag them as false positive?

Both tests have a place. You also can't mass test a population with PCR its not feasible. If you pick up 90 % plus positives with lateral flow you cut out most of the true transmission risk.

P.s not a geneticist but I do have 10 years experience designing and manufacturing PCR tests :)

Yes TT is required. Usually you would produce 3 small scale validation batches at the new manufacture location and then validate that they hit specification. A business may take a risk and conduct mass manufacture of these batches with a view to sell remaining tests after testing but that depends on risk appetite of the organisation

I look at everything with the scientific method. All data, or lack thereof must be considered and we must be prepared to change our conclusion if the data is strong.

The RTC figure is based upon cost to the UK government too. Theres a lot of potential for the cost to be considerably increased if these are sold privately or to other 3rd parties after the contract expires on the 15th
