is P&D pump and dump? as in they buy cheap, and sell on a rise...but in massive volumns so price is really affected and MM(money men???) make a packed, and joe bloggs misses it and is left reeling!!! i watched mt balfour shares drop to £2.14 late last year and saw my holding dive by £7k...but luckily it went back up...i set a price in my mind i wanted and when it was there sold....it rises and falls almost every day by 2 to 15p within hours..i wished i had been more with it when they wee £3.57 ish and then bought back in at there year low....would be like a whole years salary in hand and tax exempt from within the isa.....shares idea was always to accumulate balfour stock, with 2012 games announced all them years back and balfours doing all track maintenance in kent etc, made sense as i hoped shares and dividends would rise and as i chipped away at mortgage, eventually i could sell stock and pay it off.......BUT 2006 missus wanted a divorce....f**ked it right up.....so i had to start again...mortgage was under 50k, shares were on the up...but she got that and the house etc.....so i bought and 2 months later rates were slashed and i was with a high by comparism product..but single it not easy....MASSIVE mortgage and recession meant payments were 2/3 my take home, not 1/4.....it was not easy...but i got by.....so now, i am an "AIM" alternative investing man...haha.........will read on MATD and SLE........many thanks.....i dont mind a bit of risk, and enjoy the reads of posts of stock on my watchlist. since i found out about dual listing etc, i have made 2 watchlists containing all the stocks listed by barclays that are tradable within my isa, as tax emempt suits me down to the ground......and AIM's not dual listed or isa eligible i read and learn about.....EDL is one....boat is coming in on that i read soon...last week i watched it rise all day and it peaked at £0.0049p...not even 1/2p....and slipped back to £0.0038, and i think recorded over 100% rise during buying session.....i had no money in it and still cant till at least weds at earliest.......a ***** i got mixed up with since divorce owes me just under £8k, i sold some shares to pay some of it off, and now have £2k to go, first 2k i paid off monthly out of my own money so basically that ate my child benefit of £134 up....i have baliffs chasing her but shes a slippery c**t.....debtor is her middle name...she was a wrong'un and i found out too too late.......so we shall see how it all pans out...i am so glad xmas and new year were so good for me and kids, that this month will be a walk in the park....what will be will be......be well, and be lucky...all the best...swimfan....
i work for balfour in the plant section. was on rail as a conductor from 1996,then went from passenger side of rail industry to machine plant side. i have worked plainline maintenance tampers but primarily on Harsco's american built Stoneblower...it lifts and aligns track faults and injects stone under the sleepers that hold the rails in place that trains travel on...it a good piece of kit...the fail rate to test for train driving is huge. was about 90% when i tried it in 1999, then again in 2000, and i passed it twice...its reaction and dexterity....some maths and memory retention skill based...i took 10 months to learn the machine and its capabilities and could maintain it to run almost faultlessly....the crew used to do all the work with someone on the end of the phone in emergencies...so you were on your own...but then with cut backs, they got in poorly trained maintainers and saved money so us driver operators just operated.....then back in june i failed a train drivers medical...had one in 2001, another 2006 then last june, but results weren't so good.....so i have been "off track" as its called since and not even rostered any shifts at all. not even van driving crew from depot to depot when machines start at one and finish at another....not even office duties....i am not allowed currently to carry out any safety critical work, but then they advertised for a planner to help with work shifts and crew plans and rostering, but never even asked me to fill the spot whilst off track...its ridiculous....as i have handled rosters for over ten years on plant and often trouble shoot and correct...we operators always know whats what with forthcoming shifts and the planners need to learn the job before they plan it...do you know what i mean....so in ten days time i have been summoned to london for a meeting.....after 7 months off...hanging..waiting...like the employed unemployed bloke...!!! funny thing is, HR sorted it all, and back in september i moved house, redeeming my mortgage which was cripppling me as wage dropped over £20k after changes and recession slashed network rails maintenance budget....so they knew i had moved...address change proceedure etc...and HR go and send this confidential marked important letter to my old address!! thats how bad it is...luckily the new owner dropped it here to me....!!!! so i wait to see what my fate is....funny thing was, last summer, i came home from a prebooked pre medical arranged holiday to a letter notifying me of a 10yr service award i am due to be presented in december...and they have not even told me since the original letter.....anything about it....its bad ,their personnel skills..., so i am prepared for the worst.....i gathered share save certificates over the years and have them in an isa, so price flutuation has not been good recently....but i managed to sell my holding,as price fell, wait and buy back in on a rise, then sell and made £600....in 2 days....after stamp duty etc et
what a great post Top Notch.....did wonder friday by the lack of posts if my little punt was worth while...but reading that instills some confidence....years ago when i was poor(ish) i would read the mail on thursday about the markets, tips, rates etc etc and then later read of the missed oppotunities that had passed and wished if only!!!! but as SRB and RCG are isa allowed as dual listed i am upbeat and await monday onwards to see how it all goes......i need a new bath and this january could see me out of work for the first time in over 26years, so a few quid to cushion the blow and still make mortgage payments would be nice being a single dad of 2 kids.....i wish you all good luck with your fortunes and dabbling and look forward to any chat and news as next week unwinds....kind regards....swimfan
only able in smaller amounts......small punt....0.0724p...see how it goes....
