The Alliance Party had 18 months to decide the application but they didn't decide it...they arranged interminable love -ins in Jokkmokk which didn't have any conclusion and probably cost a fortune. The issue was the reindeer herding issue, which Annie Loof said could be resolved, but she didn't resolve it.

It is unusual for an application to be sent to the government, the Bergsstaten can make the decision alone, it's their job. In their deliberations, they take note of the local political input and usually decide in the same vein but in our case and unusually they disagreed with the CAB, which meant it had to be referred to the government, which they did with their own recommendation that the application fulfilled the requirements for a mining concession. But they said they were unable to make a decision on the indirect effects which was the reason the CAB disagreed with it. In the first instance (2015) when it was with the government, the CAB supported the application on all legal grounds. Only subsequently, when the Sami Parliament made an ANI for reindeer did they have a means of saying no. If the Bergsstaten had said No , the company would have been able to appeal the decision. I think there is an instance of a company appealing successfully but I can't remember the case. Challenge me as much as you like.

We all want to make money otherwise we wouldn't be invested but I don't want to make money in something unethical and I chose Sweden on those grounds, the environmental rules. etc. This hasn't been just politics, the iron ore price fell and that's what finished Northland.

Eric...I think that is highly unlikely, Alice has said it's only a matter of time. You could interpret that of course in any way you like. Alice in the transitional government is Minister for Culture...mining in Sweden has a history of a thousand years, which is quite a lot longer than reindeer herding; so that must mean mining is the senior culture. What will next week bring, never a dull moment in this share.

Dare I say, what if we don't get the permit? Would the £250 have been well spent on everyday expenses then? We are a mining company and Kurt is a miner...he should take an opportunity if he see one The Kosovo opportunity is with an experienced team, talent is always worth buying into. Sometimes I have a peek into the abyss...sorry. Most countries including the USA recognise Kosovo as an independent state but some do not...so it is risky.

Andy, re the point you're trying to make about the Green Party's success in Jokkmokk, my point was that they have been soundly beaten into 3rd place by the Future in Jokkmokk Party. As a matter of interest what percentage of the vote did they have in Jokkmokk last time? Another point is I hope their anti mining stance doesn't go unnoticed on a national level because I don't think the rest of Sweden will like it.

Andy....If 13.6% of the vote is an indication of the strength of the mining opposition, it's not very strong is it. S have 38.6% and FTJ 17.78%; so FTJ gets more support than the Greens.
