An interesting sort of balancing act but not that complicated:

At the moment nobody gets any benefit from taxes, jobs or iron and the reindeer business is already suffering from climate change as is the investment climate; so how big a sacrifice can it be to make a few adjustments to the twice a year migration route... for the benefit of all.

Agree with you Eric...but they have committed themselves now to making the decision when UNESCO's have given their input and there's a wider audience now over whose eyes they cannot so easily pull the wool. That's looking on the bright side...the other side is we have to wait for another election and hope the Moderates get to form a government.

If they were so interested in what they've got to say which must be quite a lot if it takes more than five months to consider it.

Bit chilly isn't it. I'm just thinking again...why didn't the Government consult with UNESCO five years ago or even three years ago?

No to motions on overall environmental issues (MJU13)
The Riksdag said no to about 130 proposals on overall environmental issues in motions from the general motion period 2020.

The main reason is that current legislation is judged to be sufficient or that work is already underway in the areas affected by the proposals.

The motions concern, for example, the revision of the Environmental Code, permit processes, property rights issues and public procurement.
