Having visited most of the farms on the Falklands, my opinion is that the islanders don't want to work on the farms. The majority of kids leave and don't come back. If they even stayed on the islands they preferred stay in Port Stanley, although it was 2009 and 2010 when I was there, at that time most farms had two adults in their 50s or 60s who managed the sheep on quads, a team of New Zealand sheep shearers visited once per year. I sent a team to visit each farm ( all islands) once per month to help for a few hours with heavy stuff and occasional for a 2-3 day stay over if requested, for bigger jobs, in order to gain the goodwill of the land owners, for freedom of movement for my people.
