Chairman clearly comes from a Property background - perhaps someone with experience in the Pub/ restaurant field is the key! Or we can see a sneaky take over in the offing.
I see no statement yet actually from Marston.
Looks like the market makers see this share as now worth more value. Price indicators currently up 50%?
Is something else in the pipeline to add value?
Esken Shareholders still own Southend Airport and the hostilities are settled with the business Court to decide on ownership which could take years to decide based on Court backlogs. In the meantime Southend Airport has the new capital to expand, and the old capital restructure argument behind it. Suggest the doubters should read :-
www.londonsouthendairport.com/news/london-southend-airport-strengthens-its-capital-structure/
Even though Esken may well own less when all of this is finally approved where a process will take some time (as reported by Esken) I can see with clear water ahead the price of this share recovering a lot. As can be seen by the recent movement on Friday. DYOR and GLA.
Eurozone inflation down to 2.3% most wondering why they have not cut rates already. Suppose they just copy the USA who also showed inflation at 2.4% just above their 2% marker. Cheaper rates soon. Might prompt interest here.
Thousands more passenger places announced by Easyjet for Southend :-

Might become far more interesting when full disclosures are made to shareholders? Or Esken going to fight them as well? Apart from taking from the BIO MASS sale a large sum for their own pension scheme where have the interests of shareholders been secured? I do not feel we have seen the end of this yet, and the Business court might investigate further too but in the meantime the company continues to trade with secured finance verbal agreements, or longer term agreements that have been in question and may still be valid? Also no talk about what happens to Esken if they do lose Southend Airport?
What happened to the £100million Esken gained from the recent sale of the Bio Mass business? This will not have been paid as it would have reduced the credit facility under question. So this is still due to shareholders, as well as the other Esken interests. I have not seen anything from Esken to say that the Company itself will be wound down. What has been in discussion is the running and ownership of Southend Airport. Not all lost to be honest and I still see alternatives coming through from the other major shareholders . However what happened to the robust defence -perhaps the judge will see this and not approve the takeover of the AIrport if unfair to existing shareholders.
Agreed saw 17.5% and must feel short changed where Carlyle group prev. were talking about taking a 30% stake for their £200m? Does not make much sense on previous values for a Judge to be concerned.
No mention of Carlisle airport either which shareholder own. For months Southend Airport has been advertising why one should invest -so can see a revolt coming from existing shareholders or an alternative from the big shareholders. Not done yet in my own opinion. Just as Easyjet announce on MCN news flights too. Value might increase for the Airport now if it does carry on without debt enough to have alternative proposals? We can live in hope but surprised what we have seen with Shareholders being told previously what a robust position Esken are in for the convertible loan terms??
Yes brokers are upticking this share and just as the canny Directors have disclosed their etake up on their inherited shares based on performance, plus future options, again linked to future performance and one additional purchase at 33p -all released tonight at close.
Those canny Directors have taken them up at an opportune moment in time in price. Good timing I would say!??
Should see a response in price very soon as this share is looking to rise, and the Directors know something. IMHO.
Barchild - Actually my spread over the market for the past 3 weeks has risen very nicely thanks. I expect the two or three speculative shares also to turn positive very soon. It always pays to spread risk and buy some additional risk when the time is right. I always suffer with too many gains for the year and with the CGT allowance being reduced that makes life even more difficult for this and next yr especially. Still all to their own. Positive comments can bring out the short sellers (I wonder who they are on here) and then it's time to buy again, as they have to buy back sometime and always appears to make an appearance as the price is starting to rise? Funny that! GLA/DYOR and enjoy.
Loan rates will be coming down soon which will help. Wages are now higher than inflation too so more punters have money in their pocket. Beer is still cheap compared to Vapes of Cigs for a working man. Warmer weather will bring in more business. Lots of rubbish on here referring to no. of pubs, etc. and some seem to have missed the fact the Partnership with Carlsberg has just acquired supplying over 1500 establishments to Stonegate, as well as supply the 1400 plus of Marstons own pubs, and yes Marston still own 40% of the joint brewery venture with Carlsberg that has also been growing fast! So cheaper loans, more sales, and we await the Brewery figs for Christmas and the new year where the 8% increase in sales declared by Marstons was only it would seem for their pubs, and not home sales through the Brewery. Lots to look forward to and a good price to come in.IMHO. DYOR, GLA. ps. Sooner or later we will be seeing like on other FTSE cheap shares some positive action we just need to be patient but many shares are now moving fast into recovery mode and this share will follow soon I am sure.
Looks like someone is doing just that a large 500,000 purchase just gone through. To add to someone very large trades that appear to be a buy rather than an indicative sell. Interesting!
Yes I have seen the range of the share price being altered on the day to keep the price suppressed and I wonder if there is therefore a shortage of shares actually being sold and so dealers are trying to get more to sell to buyers where they hace a shortage of their own stock. Some will then panic on an indicative lower day price and sell. I see this as a time to buy! I cannot see the past big boys who have backed this share allowing their own share ownership be watered down by Carlyle Group, and so we might be getting something positive soon. GLA/DYOR.
Suppose when you have the Directors selling large numbers of shares at a 15% gain in share price for the year one can see why brokers are marking down on sentiment. They are no doubt making use of the 30 day window before the results. So the Market is thinking this might be a reflection going forward I suppose. Does seem a big drop for today however considering but Sentiment can play a role, and it does seem strange selling before results and where the govt. has reined in CGT for the year?
A few days to go for results -which might surprise a few as the new mine is on stream for full production. Whereas the last statement said production is to be as anticipated they said Silver stream was ahead and whereas Gold was down for the year they still felt guidance would be met as December saw a 15% increase which makes one wonder if this has continued into January and Feb? Results could be interesting and may be a pleasant surprise. As might any cut news from the Fed which has been played down but it will come.
Maybe Toscafund are going to step in as they already own close on 28% whereas Cyrus who are supporting Carlyle group only hold 5%. I have a feeling some of the other big players will also not want to see their existing share of the company diminish either. I have still have a feeling Carlyle might be paid off and the weight of their pressure is then gone! It would be good to have an update very soon to keep shareholders informed of what is happening.
Press are anticipating another offer coming in and also JD even without an offer have been put on a time frame. They also talk about the main mistake Curry's made was to close down a number of Airport shops I wonder if Elliot (Waterstones) have these already in place to link up on sales? They also talk about Amazon being its main rival so I wonder of they may come in here to join the party? Interesting. These share were well over £1.56 (April 21) so a long way to go yet for me to get excited. GLA.
.
Esken also said their lawyers feel they have a very robust position as far as the convertible loan terms are concerned. Well perhaps they can keep shareholders advised of how this advice is going considering they have issued a direction they feel we should take. It looks to me as if Shareholders have had previously in defence statements a lot to look forward to. However would like to be kept updated.
To be honest I do not blame Southend Airport talking with Carlyle at all as this will bring about a positive outcome for a take over of the Airport and a longer term future for prosperity and growth. The main Jewel in the crown is Southend Airport as opposed to Carlisle Airport that Esken also own. We have seen Esken Management sell the Bio-Mass side of the Company and then invest a large amount back into the Esken Management own pension scheme. Perhaps a Judge will look at this as well as the prime Jewel actually having sympathy for existing Shareholders who feel to be honest any new deal has to be fair to existing shareholders who own an asset that has been cast to one side. A judge might also feel that the Esken Management have already had their share. Who knows but one thing is for sure if any good news comes out this share price will rocket from where it is currently. GLA. as we should get some more news very soon but any offer from Carlyle has to be reasonable and fair to satisfy the courts, same goes for Esken who should be putting shareholders first! If not I can see other events taking place later from disgruntled Shareholders who can come out with more if a Court looks at the whole picture? DYOR.
Rumours abound in local press that Ryan Air may make a return to Southend Airport and they will serve flights to Italy as they had done before? Time will tell. We should hear some more news very soon I am sure. However I am starting to feel shareholders can benefit who manages the airport as the CEO of Southend appears to be very confident.
