RE: A question of trust24 Jul 2020 03:17
Ok so after sitting on the sidelines for a long time, I've decided to register and add my two cents. I appreciate I don't have history on this bb so you have no reason to believe anything I say, but then again, you probably shouldn't believe a lot of what is said here. In full disclosure though I am a LTH of both SOLG and DGR (and several others within the stable). I may not have a lot of skin in the game but it is a lot for me.
Quady I commend you for raising the question of trust as that is exactly why i'm invested here. I don't know charts, I don't know geology and I don't have all that much experience when it comes to broader financial markets. What I do know is people. I've been fortunate in my work to get close enough to some of the key people involved here to get a real sense of their character and values but not quite close enough to have any insider knowledge (well not in the last 18months at least).
What I can tell you is that I believe in NM enough to trust him with the future financial freedom of my family. I've seen enough of him to know how hard he works and how much he believes in the long term future we have available to us and most of all I believe he is a man of his word when he says he is looking out for the interests of smaller shareholders.
It has been commented by others that NM has a huge Ego - but I fail to see why this would be a bad thing. People driven by greed can be bought, but those with egos like his need to win. The question here is what does a win look like?
Is it:
A: Playing the game and saying what you think people want to hear but secretly be planning on selling out for a fraction of true value so you can go (very comfortably) sit on a beach somewhere and be forgotten.
B: Taking this all the way, or at least as far as is needed to truly make a statement and prove to all your doubters that you were right all along, and in the process establish not just a name, but a legacy?
If it was A, why, with all the direct and indirect interest he has in this, would he still be here?
