LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Shares in Alliance & Leicester PLC fell in morning trade after the UK mortgage lender said charges related to the global credit squeeze will be more than three times its original estimate, weighing heavily on its 2007 profits.

Highland Gold Mining Limited ("Highland Gold") announces that it has allotted and issued 179,648 ordinary shares to Barrick Gold Corporation ("Barrick") being the remaining tranche of shares out of the 34,492,305 ordinary shares to be issued in consideration for assets agreed to be acquired from Barrick in November 2006. These new ordinary shares will be admitted to trading on AIM of the London Stock Exchange at 8.00 am on 25 January 2008. The first tranche of 34,312,657 shares were allotted and issued to Barrick on 18 December 2006. Barrick's total holding in Highland Gold is 66,235,264 ordinary shares, being 20.37% of the issued share capital of Highland Gold.

Date: Monday 28 Jan 2008 LONDON (ShareCast) - Highland Gold, the AIM-listed Russian gold producer, has announced the appointment of three representatives of billionaire Roman Abramovich’s investment vehicle Millhouse to its board. The representatives, Eugene Shvider, Eugene Tenenbaum and Olga Pokrovskaya, will replace Henry Horne and Scott Perry, who have stood down with immediate effect. Horne remains in an executive role with the company, while Scott Perry is leaving. Under the terms of an agreement, which saw Millhouse take a 40% stake in Highland in December, it has the right to nominate directors to the board in proportion to its shareholding. One of the appointees, Eugene Shvidler, was ranked 365 among Forbes list of the world’s richest people in 2006.

Don, if there is a massive fall-off later in the week, which would you pile your spare cash in to..... I was thinking RBS or Barc if they hit 300p and 400p respectively????

After a positive update on Friday of its oil and gas Russian Registered Reserves, which increased 229% this year, Merrill Lynch (NYSE:MER) (OOTC:MERIZ) repeated its 'buy' view for 'Imperial Energy' (AIM:IEC) and 2,400 pence price target. Imperial Energy has also confirmed the completion of five new registrations in November 2007 ;-)

It's luck of the draw mate, nobody knows, not even the markets themselves! Just make sure you keep an eye on things.....thats all. In particular, note the direction of the DOW Futures which usually indicate how things are to unfold during the afternoons trading sessions..... usually :-)

My opinion is that the company looks very cheap, and that online gaming is big buisiness now and set to get bigger, so I suspect if the release of Age of Conan is a failure, a takeover may be possible. However I've only bought-in for the small sum of £5k...... I just feel it's better to be in, rather than out, in case Microsoft or some other larger company come sniffing around. Also, Age of Conan has won many awards thus far. Bit of a punt for me!

Oil rising again. An excellent RNS today. Very recent interests in shares announced (twice). Barclays BARX very strong buy score (x 6). Pretty much the cheapest they've been for a month. With oil starting it's upwards run again and a weakening dollar due to Fed cuts (more to come this week), this must be a 'buy' for Monday morning :-) Good Luck all and have a good weekend!

Looks to me as though this has stabilized at roughly around the Directors buy-in price for the moment...... what a surprise! Worth continuing to watch though :-)

Im never sure on a Friday afternoon so I play really safe. I dont think it will go that far down, as you say. Just my opinion.

For me to go in again it would need to be down at 220p now.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Imperial Energy's Russian oil and gas reserves more than doubled in 2007, thanks in part to a quadrupling of reserves at the Snezhnoye Field. The figures, produced by the Russian authorities, show the UK-based company's total Russian registered reserves increased 229 pct to 372 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe). The Snezhnoye Field's registered reserves increased 428 pct to 83.6 mmboe. In 2008, Imperial said it plans further applications to assess reserves on other newly-discovered fields.

I think 300 is possible. Depends, it's Friday :-( .... so we'll see. If I was an institution I'd buy into this one for sure! You won't lose money :-)

The reaction to the statement was an over-reaction in 'nervous times' in my opinion. This is likely to turn out to be very lucrative for anyone who is in at the current price, or gets into this one quickly. Hence why all the Directors also joined in and bought shares almost immediately today i.e. it's Xmas again for all involved :-). A takeover would be even better.... if we got really lucky! Even Barclays BARX has this company listed as a 'very strong buy' and their financial stats look really good. It will be interesting to see what the reaction is when people (pros & amateurs) look back at todays events and see this one :-)

I would agree with that figure. I would also hope for an aggressive ramp up shorlty after that to make up ground, when other investors and/or the market 'sees the light' on this one :-)
