Mining companies get extended exploration permit in Kallak

The mining company Beowulf Mining has obtained a new exploration permit for the Parkijaure 6 area, located south of Kallak, in Jokkmokk municipality.
The mapping of ore deposits in the Kallak area will be expanded starting in autumn 2020. The mining company has not yet been informed of the processing concession.
"In anticipation of a decision regarding the processing license for Kallak, we are investigating the possibilities of increasing the ore potential beyond the 250 million tonnes already defined at Kallak," says Beowulf Mining's CEO Kurt Budge in a press release.
Applied six years ago
Six years ago, the mining company Beowulf Mining applied for a mining license to mine iron ore in Kallak outside Jokkmokk. The County Administrative Board said no to the plans, but the Berg State considered that permission should be granted, which is why the decision has been handed over to the government. There it has been since summer 2017.
