We all know SAR play down the news......I’m expecting another RNS in the coming days confirming AGILE and funding the trials. Phase 1 will likely be a small cohort of around 60 to 80. It will also be a rolling review with no gaps between phase 1 and 2......
Some newbies asked about the secondary experiments.........
The secondary element of the experiments which proved inconclusive was to see if it helped treat the bacterial pneumonia caused by the over reaction of the immune system........but it doesn’t really matter as the drug knocks the immune reaction on the head therefore avoiding bacterial pneumonia any way!!!!
Absolutely great news

Boom time
The results of the project found that SDC-1801 reduced the levels of cytokines associated with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) in human lung cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 and demonstrated a profile that was superior to the anti-inflammatory steroid dexamethasone and similar to baricitinib, a JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor.
Subsequent completed in-vivo studies support the initial cellular results and indicate:
· Strong evidence that expression of Type 1 interferons (IFNa and IFNb) is reduced by SDC-1801 treatment in a dose-responsive manner; and that
· Viral loads did not increase after SDC-1801 administration, a potential concern when anti-inflammatory agents are used to dampen down an over-active immune response

Hi all
Another therapeutic fail. This was a intranasal vaccine. Of interest is the size of the Phase I trial......bodes well for us in fast track with SDC-1801 in small phase I and slightly larger phase II trials.
* Altimmune’s single-dose vaccine, dubbed AdCOVID, didn’t spur an adequate immune response in a Phase I test in 80 healthy volunteers, the biotech said Tuesday. Meanwhile, the vaccine was well tolerated, but the lack of results was good enough for Altimmune to walk away*.

Hi Thoth the below was reported on Sky News And aligns with your predictions of the 3rd wave coming and impacting the young!
Rise in Covid patients in hospitals and on ventilators in England
*We mentioned earlier how the number of Covid patients on ventilators in England’s hospitals is at its highest level for more than two months.
NHS England figures show there were 245 on average on 29 June, up from 206 a week before.
The figure is the highest since 24 April, having dipped as low as 113 on 29 May.
However, the number is still far below the peak of the second wave when the average hit a high of 3676 on 26 January.
But the rise suggests there is still enough of a link between infection and hospital admissions to result in a growing number of people needing intensive treatment.
The average number of patients in hospitals is also climbing with younger people driving the rise.
Figures for England show the total number of hospital Covid patients is currently averaging 1333 the highest number for two months.

Yep surething
The worrying trend that has been reported on various news channels is the complacency around feeling secure when vaccinated and restrictions lifting......the virus is still prevalent and can cause chaos. Out of the 203 countries that provide reports to the John Hopkins Covid Tracker, 89 have reported increases last week. Some no change and a large number decreases in case reports. Overall last week there were 264,000+ new cases reported. As with all reporting, it is only as good as data being provided and you can bet many governments are either under reporting or not reporting.
As per my original post ‘not to be taken out of context’ but covid is not going away.
Euro football on and Olympics soon......mmmmm

Yes Mafuta that Israel report is the most worrying, from memory that have around 98% of the population vaccinated twice.......

Agree itsagametome that’s why I said not to be taken out of context.
However, many experts are claiming the delta variant is more contagious than other variants and this virus grows exponentially.......any new cases popping up in the community can quickly grow into many cases. Worldmeters are reporting a +5% increase from last weeks report. Not a good position however you look at it.

Exactly - the results have been seen/shared.
Highly unlikely that the UKRI grant officer didn’t share upstream after what Sareum confirmed as ‘does indeed down regulate’ the cytokine storm and ‘if success continues’ ie. they proved success in a ‘proof of concept’ funded range of experiments. If not to report back on results, what else would the grant officer be reporting......what time the guys have lunch!
I suspect (IMHO) that the HNWI has also seen the results.......
Time will tell

Hi All
The rate of weekly new covid cases around the globe is very worrying. These percentages are not to be taken out of context as some countries are starting from either zero or very low numbers in the last 7 days. All the same if a country had been reporting zero cases and now has cases this again is very worrying. I’ve only listed countries above 50% increase on last week. Data from worldmeters
Tajikistan +15,200%
St Martin +14,300%
Channel Islands +931%
Isle of Man +900%
Sudan +581%
Nicaragua +559%
Israel +302% (largest vaccinated population)
Barbados +300%
Cyprus +200%
Seychelles +195%
Mozambique +182%
Hong Kong +182%
Zimbabwe +140%
Malawi +127%
Belize +121%
Rwanda +111%
Myanmar +107%
Fiji +97%
Australia +84%
Iceland +78%
UK +68%
New Zealand +64%
Indonesia +55%
Not good as shows border controls don’t work......covid is going nowhere

Hi Zylo & Ahfam
It was me......I raised the question at the investors meeting. I felt it was important to know whether progress was being monitored by UKRI rather than waiting for the POC to finish. I was not surprised by John’s ‘live and unscripted’ response, I was sure that UKRI representatives would have been witnessing and if not advising on the POC experiments. From memory they only awarded a handful of grants so not difficult to assign reps to each grant.
As per my earlier posts, I suspect all this data has already been ‘fed up the chain’ hence Boris’s confidence of announcing a covid pill by Autumn. There is too much at stake now with the delta variant and he will want some good news that UK PLC has brought forward a possible solution through funding by his government......what’s not to like?
GLA
IMHO - the RNS will confirm acceptance into AGILE as well as the results. The UK Government are desperate to get potential candidates into trials. It is no coincidence that Boris was given/shown data by his advisers and scientists that led to his (scripted) speech reference covid pill by Autumn. You don’t go out and state that unless you are highly confident you can deliver........otherwise would be political suicide. He also formed the antivirals taskforce and further recently announced he wants the UK at the leading front of science discovery.
UKRI were constantly monitoring our progress, don’t forget they selected us for a POC out of a large number of applications, again only putting potentially successful candidates forward. Way to much recent validation of JAK inhibitors and covid therapeutics.
Not long now team.......GLA
Hi All
With news literally just round the corner (in the context of being here over 10 years), personally all I want the mainstream media to do is broadcast our achievements. This will propel SAR to astronomical heights and put them on the world stage for groundbreaking science and leading the next generation of medical advancements.
