I am copy pasting the (wrong for me) info from http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/business-43514911 just in case it gets later pulled down Live Reporting By Mary-Ann Russon 20:50 GlaxoSmithKline shares plunge on drug verdict Pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline has seen its shares tank after its competitor Teva Pharmaceutical Industries managed to get an appeal court to toss out a ruling preventing it from selling its copy of GSK's Corg heart drug. GSK sued Teva over its generic version of Coreg, which reduces chance of death from congestive heart failure, saying that Teva infringed its patent. GSK won a $235m settlement, however an appeals court has now tossed it out. GSK shares have plunged 12.7% to $1,179.39 on the news. Just yesterday, shares rose 5% after GSK announced it was looking to sell off its nutrition products business to take full control of its joint venture with Novartis, which is responsible for well known over-the-counter drugs Panadol and Nicotinell. GSK faces stiff competition to make a generic alternative to its asthma inhaler, however US regulators have so far delayed approval of the versions made by Hikma Pharmaceuticals and Mylan.
Thank you for the info. It appears totally wrong though!! The info about Teva was released approx 5 hours ago, the ADR in NYSE has been trading during this time, and this is how it just closed 39.38+0.99 (+2.58%) At close: 4:01PM EDT 39.73 +0.35 (0.90%) After hours: 4:16PM EDT
I have been many times in and out of this share successfully. Last time I sold at around 65. This time however most investors were taken by surprise. I was also expecting them to acquire the Pfizer assets and then the price to drop substantially and load some shares at around 49. Thankfully I decided to buy a good tranche 'prematurely' at 56 the other day, as I thought the price had dropped way too far when it touched the 55s and the Pfizer acquisition was starting to be priced in. The plan was still to wait and buy more during further drops. After todays news though, I cannot see further drops coming soon and that seems to be a short term 'bottom'. Of course as bluefin says that can prove wrong and also markets are in a 'weird' mood nowadays... I am happy with the shares I have here, will keep them to get the dividend (ex divi 12/04 for 97.7p.) and then we will see what happens after the ex-divi. GLA
VOD is my largest single holding because it represents all of the Telecoms, Utilities & Networks sectors. I own no other share related to those sectors. Look at the 1 year charts of BT.A, TALK, NG., SSE, CNA, SVT, UU., PNN. Then look at the VOD 1 year chart and compare. Then stop complaining about VOD SP :) Good night all!
Same auditor as Carillion, the graph is now looking like Carillion. Of course that might mean nothing, but I have a negative gut feeling about this one that something is wrong. Relieved I sold my last tranche - despite at a loss - the week before, as I am watching the slide continue... Not meaning to deramp as I 100% do not intend to buy back at any price, but my gut feeling tells me something is not right here... I wish I am wrong, but I will stay away. GLA
