A bank most likely would not lend money to Matad due to the inability to repay. We are talking about wildcat drilling and success case are low.

Hence, MB have been trying his luck with JVs for the past 10 years, and to date no deal has ever materialized.

Further to my previous post, if there was a potential buyer/ JV partner, it would make more sense for MB and team to focus on the Heron field to ramp up production. It's a commercial environment and that is the way to go.

Gobi, H2, Gazelle have all been reported likely non commercially viable. H2 best case scenario is 30bopd.

From a potential buyout / JV perspective, that adds little value to the deal.

So nope, I don't buy the talk of there being something more transformational happening in the backgrounds.

Matad want to test Gobi Bear but I can't see why they couldn't determine if this was viable last year after drilling.

Gazelle only encountered 3m of oil pay from memory, so it is unlikely to be commercial, or if it is it will only produce a handful of barrels a day.

Matad have been actively looking for a partner who has ready cash to gamble and plenty of time to waste with all the Mongolian bureaucracy.

Realistically speaking, no one would be that foolish to lend Matad both funds and expertise to realise their dream.

It's probably the reason why all these years no deal has ever been finalised. Now, if there were any kind of NDA as suggested, then Matad has obligations to report that to the market.

The fact there has been no RNS on this part is more closely a case of shareholders hoping for such scenarios rather it being an actual event.

Simply speaking, it's more likely that MB is retesting wells out of desperation.

Good points Hamm, and further to that, I personally would like to know how does Matad prioritise their projects with such limited funds.

Like you have pointed out, they have allocated funds to the renewable energy without first finding a stable income stream from their core oil assets.

So...what makes them think it was a good idea to start renewable energy or even bidding for the Borzon Block. Both of which requires funds to progress and Matad just simply don't have the funds.

You would have though from a logical and risk mitigation prospective, they would focus on one thing first before moving onto the next?

How is working on multiple projects without having the funds capability good for any investors?

MB has been positive since Snow Leopard...

There hadn't been a time where he wasn't....

Going by the results, 8 out of 9 wells were dusters and the only one that found oil, under delivered hugely, from 821bopd to 160bopd

Yet, MB remains positive and is pleased to have announced a placing....
