Just looking back at JD's involvement in SDRY... didn't quite clock that he only became CEO again in late 2019 (a few months before the pandemic) after some boardroom battles. With a new chairman in 2021, his intention seems to always have been to take SDRY private but he couldn't have done that through the pandemic or cost of living. Striking now would give him a bargain (before recovery takes effect).
I don't think that he will have any issue in getting support - the big question for me is not whether or not he will bid but how much. I think we'll hear tomorrow or Monday that he has made a bid but that this first bid was rejected. I think we'll then see other bids materialising.
After the SKY exclusive, nothing is being leaked here but remember, the sp is still sitting at almost double the sp of a month ago. Apart from some folk getting a bit too nervous, the majority have taken their positions. Unless there is a knockout bid, I don't see this ending tomorrow.

Have to confess over the years, I've wondered whether there is a deliberate sabotaging of PREM projects... especially this last year... one has to wonder?? I've also wondered about the content and timing of certain RNS's!?! The alleged cosy relationship that certain individuals have with GR. The alleged early release of key information to certain individuals/groups.
I've no doubt there is spod to be had and Canmax's involvement used to give me some reassurance that it's all above board but...... who knows!!

Bodes well for Superdry. UK retailers are cheap apart from a couple of exceptions and very much in demand. JD needs to deliver a healthy bid to get his wish to take SDRY private... others will pounce if he doesn't.
For me, it's looking more and more like there are quite a few wealthy individuals who have become aware of JD's plans... not too far a stretch to think that Kellett knows JD personally.
I'm now 95/5 thinking that there's a bid incoming (previously 80/20).
BTW, JD has been speaking to more than one financial institution too... and I might also make the point that JD will know by now whether he can do the deed or not... if not, he is duty bound to tell the market asap.
Acker - much to my dismay, you called this right so far. I had thought that it was going to happen this time but sadly not. I sincerely hope that they have everything on site to get it all running and that they don't have to wait for parts... again.
Yesterday's RNS was a shocker and the mention of a range of minor issues makes it a major issue for me. GR never ever does something because he's been told to or has to - he alone will have decided to issue that RNS for his own reasons and the most obvious reason is that he doesn't expect to have the plant fully operational by eom. Personally, I wouldn't put a timescale on it... it's back to putting Bruce Springsteen's Waitin on a Sunny Day on repeat!
I'm very tempted to list all of GR's failings and failed projects over the last 7 years for the benefit of newbies.... not one bag of any product ever produced... that's the calibre of the man that we're talking about so when he says there are a range of minor issues, it is time to worry.
My concern is that they've probably been at this since Thursday (or before) and will have been working over the weekend. Look back to GR's pronouncements last year when things started to go wrong and you'll find the same reassurances which came to nought! I sincerely hope that we're not going down that route again. Big week for some of my holdings (SDRY, VAST and PREM.... bonkers portfolio) and it hasn't got off to a good start!
Have to agree Martinigirl - there is no need to RNS this if the fix could be done by Thursday.
Overwhelming sense of deja vu yet again with PREM and GR!!
Will he ever produce anything? 7 years I've been here and still nothing!
Doublingup - I expected a wee bit more of a rise today than we've had so far tbh. I'd put it down to OBTS (once bitten twice shy) and the HE1 effect.
Over the years, GR has let us down so often (not just with Zulu) and, quite rightly, folks are more cautious this time round having been badly burned in the past.
HE1 is still attracting so much attention that stocks like Prem are missing out. Even at this stage in proceedings for Prem, I guess that a lot of folk either don't know what is happening, have lost interest or have taken the view that their money is safer/will get better rewards elsewhere.
The next RNS is key... if it is OK, we should see a push on from here. If it's very positive then we could possibly spike a lot closer to last year's highs. Beyond that, it really depends on what GR does next. I'm hoping that by summer time, we have regular consistent delivery to Canmax and that we know what's happening with the EPO area. If things are in a steady state then I can see us back in multibag territory.
If things don't go as planned... well, surely, GR will be sent packing.
