Retail stocks struggle in a recession. Seeing as we could be heading potentially for a year of recession, THG won't be immune from that. Shorts could be working on that assumption.

Only question would be is this already in the stock price?

Not to mention today's UK figures show the UK with the slowest growth in the G7 and lots of economists predicting we will be in a recession for most of 23. Not a great environment for retail stocks.

For all we know it went this this ...

Mr Hunter has a significant share holding in THG. He is also a friend and supporter of Moulding. He has seen stories that are not putting a positive light onto THG, so he gets the nod to put out a puff piece to try to counteract the other stores. In effect hoping it causes the shars to rise, helping the value of Mr Hunters own holding.

Fact is we don't know. But some are quick to view anything that isn't 100% positive about THG as being "Hedge fund conspiracy with the media" Couldn't this be viewed in a similar way?

The poster above was inferring that Tom Hunter has come out with this article because he knows what is coming on the next earnings update. I have just pointed out that the exact same was said when Lord Allen bought his shares. He knew what was coming in the earnings call after he bought.....but the earnings were not great and the shares went down

The same was said after Lord Allen bought shares earlier this year. It headed south ever since.

He should be explaining why the beauty division wasn't spun off like promised. Why the golden share has continued into next year. Why they haven't listed on the premium segment like promised this year

To just name 3 things. The main one being the beauty spin off. Promised in 2021 to be happening first quarter of 22 and hasn't been mentioned since.
