Dan, the SP has been sliding since October, maybe that was a better warning?!
It looked like it was the relentless 100k trades that took us down the last couple of pence over the last few weeks and the SP didn't flinch on 5 x 1m trades on Friday. Were they some kind of balancing trades? Who bought them? I'm still not sure we saw enough 100k trades to make the 5 x 1m and the other large trades over the last few weeks.
What was particularly strange was that you could still sell 400-500k above the bid. That's pretty unusual here even in good times.
We need to see TR-1's or at least an updated major holdings list if nobody has crossed a triggering threshold!
We had PCR capability so it was logical that we'd go for a PCR test - it was developed it very quickly and being a 2 gene test, it was technically better than the first Ncyt 1 gene test too. BUT Ncyt had been working on their coronavirus PCR test long before coronavirus became pandemic and as a result of being first mover, they had the big money government emergency contracts sewn up.... So given that, and that it was unlikely we could replace the incumbent, what are the options? Go for niche high margin? It started off well - everyone was shouting to increase capacity massively, remember? Why are they so slow to get more capacity? Well lockdown 2 and then the mutations causing lockdown 3 impacted our market .... So whilst disappointing, it's not ultimately Ygen's fault and almost impossible to anticipate what / when / how subsequent lockdowns would occur.
So with the famous 20-20 hindsight from the comfort of an armchair, maybe we shouldn't have tried at all and get slated for that instead? You can almost hear the cries "We are a company with PCR capability, why don't we have a coronavirus test?"
The thing I'm most disappointed at is that we don't appear to have sold a lot of Clarigene through the our existing customer labs - I expected more from that since it is potentially more scalable than our own lab capacity.
.. and where the f**k are those TR-1's ?!
Jadam, agree with you, lots of other large trades recently that need explaining - although what I still can’t square is why the SP didn’t tank as a result of them. I don’t think we saw enough 100k trades (which dragged the SP down) to match against all of those big trades. If there is no TR-1 forthcoming, it does need investigating.
Jadam, We are not a LFT company - even the companies that were already making LFT tests for other things are still struggling to get anywhere near the accuracy of PCR. Do you really think we could’ve started from scratch and beat them? How else would you have generated more revenue?
The keeping news thing back - I expected a revision down on the update before xmas but presumably they were still hoping / expecting a few more deals to close to get closer to the target. Xmas eve would’ve been perfect for burying bad news but they didn’t ... strange choice that.
We haven’t seen a TR1 for those trades - they were puzzling because the SP didn’t take a hit, it was already down. You can’t drop 5m shares in Ygen without it tanking so what gives? Were they the summing up of all those 100k sells. If they were a major shareholder, ie over 3%, every 1% / 7m shares would trigger a TR-1 and given there have been other big trades recently it is very strange that there haven’t been any TR-1’s. A director trade would also have triggered a notification.
... 2021/22 - the year of The Jam!
... well, now you have it, a detailed and comprehensive update, delivered on time too!
There is a pandemic - the new strain nobbled the covid business (as well as core) just as we upscaled and key pipeline customers deferred spending.
What could or should they have done differently?
Lets hope you're right with Ygen flying now Twix! If you take a look at GDR's FY results and RNS's, they don't make great reading either with a couple of insti's reducing recently, but they have 400+BB comments and 1000+ trades today, oh. and a graph that points the right way!!
Anyway, good luck on the dark side colsoul!
Keep it up! The ask has ticked up to 13.5!!
They're waiting for you to sell up before releasing it ...
.. it's all part of Sod's Law!
It's really about time we had a stunning left-field announcement to propel us back to 20p!
Twix, I was only kidding around!
100k at 13:43:57 at 12.701 and 100k at 14:00:06 at 12.75 marked UT ... I suspect the first one is a sell!
Twix, if you're dropping 100k chunks just to wind up CooperD, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! :-)
Bakky, I hope you're talking historically, or even hysterically!
Frankies, today is looking calmer, maybe we can breathe again!
Given that the chunky trades at 12.5p appear to have closed out the recent action, I wonder if the seller tried to cut a deal with a "bulk" buyer but the buyer offered 12.5p, the seller then just sold down what they could at a higher price in 100k chunks and when it hit 12.5p, let the rest go..
Probably a complete and utter b*****ks theory but until we get a TR-1, we don't have a clue!
But it looks like our 100k seller has either overslept or is done ..
Threeskins, that was on the iphone app, but I've logged in to their website and can get a quite for selling 400k (12.5p)
Have you tried turning it off and on again? :-)
... and AJ bell will take 500k at 12.5p.
Someone out there is quite happy to pick these up in bulk at this price ...
jadam, is that the 15:01 trade? I haven't seen a 2m trade later than that on L2
threeskins - I've just been offered 12.5p for 400k shares on II in one hit ..
At the moment, their options are worth sweet FA, so I imagine they are pretty damned focused on the SP too!
Much as I'd like some magic words that result in the SP jumping back to 20p, I'm not sure what you expect the management to say?
Sentiment wasn't great, but this drop isn't caused by a few PI's selling - someone has been selling off a sizeable chunk ...
Our man Myers hasn't added recently ... or has he??
Surely a TR-1 must be triggered soon, the suspense is almost as painful as the SP drop!
