Perhaps the letter in the Times ought to be read in its full context i.e. in relation to the scale and affordability for providing backup generation for every hospital in the UK should anyone be stupid enough to give XR's nonsense about scrapping every hospital diesel backup generator by 2025 more than a nanosecond of consideration.

Battery technology at appropriate scale and affordability is at least a decade off. There is no actual real-world plan with engineering integrity for decarbonising the UK economy even by 2050. Not in favour of a special dividend. The company has an announced dividend policy and should stick to that. I struggle to see why the market would react positively to a company that flip-flops on dividends e.g. by suddenly deciding its got the money for one after previously saying money needed elsewhere in short-term but possibly one from 2020 onwards. Also, not in favour of giving shareholders say £10m only to take on £10m of debt + interest to pay for projects or, even worse, having to dilute and hand out cheap shares to another bunch of shysters who will just rinse and repeat the current experience of shorting.

Frankly, to me, a 1p special dividend is irrelevant compared to the many tens of pence I expect the share price to grow over the next 12 months and beyond through the company just getting on with delivering on its plans and not giving a sh*t about the game players in the meantime.

Roosters - that is untrue and unfair on FM & the board. The company issued a 'comment on share price movement' RNS on 21st May and it recently released its 2Q19 operational update. Both RNS were chock full of evidence that the company is making great strides on many different fronts and comment from FM. You should also recall that FM and MN gave a very detailed and positive interview last week (which pdub transcribed and is on TBP). Therefore not sure what more they can do on the statement side of things.

Tell you what, prachlee, why don't you go and read the transcripts Pdub kindly put up yesterday, engage your brain to think about what Fortune and Mikhail were saying, and then form your own conclusions about whether they see the best use of BMN's money over the next 1-3 years as being :

a) buying more ore resources
b) buying and upgrading more brownfield vanadium/ore processing facilities
c) constructing downstream VRFB facilities e.g. chemical/electrolyte facilities
d) developing other downstream resources
e) a combination of b), c) and d).

Share price looks to me moving positive for the day. If yesterday's large 2.1m+ trade was the end of the large seller - and I think it was - then I could well picture the MMs giving the end of the short a few hours this morning to clear the last of their position before allowing the price to rise more substantially. It will be interesting to see whether any substantial buying is now pushing against an open door as the MMs are out of ammo to hold the price down. Stand by your beds!

I saw the following two-line snippet in the daily market report section of today's Times. Although I'd treat any broker assessment with a large dose of caution as they get a lot wrong, I suspect this report won't encourage you to maintain your GNK holding!

Bella - don't think you are correct in your assumption that BE supplied the electrolyte to the Avalon battery. BE isn't and never has been an electrolyte supplier to third parties. It has a small amount of electrolyte for its own projects, but isn't an external supplier yet (this will happen when the East London operation is running). It doesn't take much reading between the lines from the BMN RNS earlier this week that BE just acted as a consultant to the Avalon project to help them define the leasing model and was not involved in supplying battery components.

I don't think SinoHydro would be too pleased with this suggestion and would firmly put the boot into the idea with the Madagascan govt (with the Chinese govt's assistance if required). Also the idea that PV + VRFB is going to cut the mustard today against a coal-fired power station for Madagascar's very immediate needs is a non-starter. The present need is too large and urgent and the current plans too far developed (both technically and financially) for the plan to be put on hold while alternatives are considered. Don't get me wrong, PV + VRFB has a huge future but it's not going to happen on the scale and timeframe for Madagascar's pressing needs.

A start-up backed by BP has developed a battery that can charge an electric scooter in five minutes. Storedot, based in Israel, said that the technology could help to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by making them “as attractive as a petrol or diesel one”.

The company demonstrated its lithium-ion battery on an electric scooter made by Torrot, the Spanish manufacturer, which had enough power to travel 70km, or more than 43 miles, a distance that typically would need four hours of charging.

Doron Myersdorf, its chief executive, said: “This is showing the world that we can break the barrier of fast charging and what was considered impossible is actually possible.”

Storedot claims that its batteries are efficient because they do not contain graphite, a form of carbon. Instead, the company uses tin, germanium and silicon in combination with organic compounds, which it says charge more quickly than the cells used in most consumer electronics.

The company, which has also created fast-charging mobile phone devices, due to go on sale next year, counts BP and Samsung among its leading investors.

BP, the London-listed oil major that reported profits of $10 billion last year, has invested $20 million in the company as it seeks to capitalise on the shift towards electric vehicles.
