thanks!
Hi everyone, I'm new to this board. I'm quite heavily into GGP and wondered if ECR might be a GGP Mk II? I thought it might be worth dipping my toes in the water here but dont know too much about tit yet.
A couple of questions to you more experienced folk here - what's in a nutshell is the investment case here? and secondly the cash in hand seem relatively low, am I reading that right or is there more going on than first meets the eye. Interested to hear your thoughts - thanks in advance for any response - cheers and GLA!
I think I’ll drop by later - just in case some GGP discussion has accidentally broken out
Fair enough 1gandhi. You’re right, let’s hope things start to move soon. This seems more derisked than most. Let’s hope sleepless nights will be because of excitement soon! Good luck
1gandhi - "I still remember many moons ago, in March 2020 in fact, when the SP tanked from 5.5p to 2.7p!" ...I hope you invested at the time, or you'd be feeling silly watching the sp climb up to 12p and beyond. We all make mistakes - good luck for the future
Most people coming on here to short can be seen for what they are - by most people. The posts are not very subtle. These people are just trying to make money, and if it's distasteful that they prey on other people's worries - well, that's the world we live in.
Its the innocent/gullible newbies, or not so newbies, I feel sorry for.
No-one is going to change this though, so its best not to get wound up about it. GGP seems to be de-risked now, and that makes a huge difference. Its exciting to speculate whether it will be super huge or ....oh, like GH, I seem to have run out of superlatives
Informed debate on here is good, but as we all know the forum is also hijacked by traders trying to influence public opinion for their own gain.
The best way to deal with obvious “false news” posts put on here by short term traders in an attempt to lower the sp Is to ignore them. Repeatedly putting the post heading up and discussing it just keeps it in view and gives the trader attention they don’t deserve
trucky - I read it on the Ollyandpatch post at 13:47
from further down the list of messages (Write Up) re GGP: "this could mean the business is sitting on £7.7bn gold"
WHAT?!?! I don't remember seeing that before,
mmm... 25% x £7.7bn ...oh and Scally, and all the others OMG
...and breathe
Not a lot of use to anyone - the Fools are keeping their options open, without, it seems, bothering to go into too much detail
That way if it continues to deliver they can say "we told you so" But if things don't go so well (highly unlikely, with the de-risking that's taken place) - they can say "we told you so" ...they've got it covered
" GH said he doesn't want to mine but if that is what is best for shareholders then that's the way to go" - he's in a negotiating position, he's maybe just saying he's prepared to do that (but I'd rather you buy us out)
I hear what you're saying Spy, sounds reasonable - careful with terminology like "The entire project is being ramped up" though - people could take it the wrong way :)
Lazy - that's a good post. The bottom line is none of us knows. We can gather the factual evidence from RNS and shareholder reports / presentations but then how that gets interpreted is where the waters become muddy. Where it gets even more difficult is when people come onto a forum like this with the intention of "encouraging" the sp up or down for some quick gains. Unfortunately, we have no idea what people's intentions are - or what level of knowledge they have.
This is AIM so there are plenty of bandits out there - and that's another risk factor. You are a gambler so you're in the right place - its a question of measuring the risk / reward equation. "Buy on the rumour, sell on the news" is quite a well know expression and reflects the situation where there is often a surge in sp prior to news and a slip back after.
I have several hundred thousand shares in GGP and am "nervously excited". I probably shouldn't keep reading these messages!
You pays your money...
Mushroom - I'm a LTH and am as excited as the next person (or most of them) about the way things are going. I'm not particularly happy when the sp blips down for a while, but if you're happy with the future prospects why do you need to convince others also? - things will pan out (as they say)
I bought a million at 1.7 and took a profit at 5.3p because it was too good (for me) to ignore. The more I looked at the information available the more I realised how much greater potential there was so, luckily, I got back in at 4.6p. The sheer weight of solid info makes this feel de-risked, it’s just a question of how big - good luck, but it seems the patient will be rewarded - and even the traders if they are lucky with their timing
I don’t blame traders coming on here and trying to infuse a bit of doubt, they’re just doing their job and trying to nudge the sp down for another buying opportunity. I just feel sorry for the genuine investors here who might take them seriously.
Thanks Badshah - I see what you're saying. GGP could just give Newcrest licence to mine Havieron and take 25% of the profits, but its more likely that GGP would rather just get the cash upfront
I'm still confused about this - I don't have an agenda either way (I have several hundred thousand shares btw) but why do you say "This company has to be bought by Newcrest at any cost."? Why can't it just stay at 75% and enter into an arrangement with GGP to exploit Havieron?
Sorry, I'm sure its been covered somewhere in the last few thousand messages but does Newcrest need 100% ownership of GGP to develop/produce gold from Havieron? - what are the options?
Academy - we believe what we want to believe
