yeah, i dabbled briefly in GBO but got stopped out quite rapidly. not back in, as i don't think i understand what's going on there, so until i get some clue taking no position in it.

fairpoint used to be one of top ten holdings for giles hargreave in his malborough microcap fund, but it no longer figures. i'm not sure if he has sold out altogether or reduced the holding, i suspect the former. giles still has cello as a holding in that top ten. (he also has ACS, another share i hold in fair size myself and feel positive on for 2014, tho' i don't get round to posting much on that board either, happy just to hold it and let it run). [apols to any cello monomaniacs for disturbing the restful peace of this lovely bulletin board with mention of other shares]

hi cm and mogie. just on fairpoint --- i have done quite well in there, but have sold out all my holding in fairpoint today and reinvested elsewhere ( - topping up my sula ahead of gold assays hopefully due next week). partly i was happy enough to bank decent profit, and wanted funds for sula, but also i have become concerned about possible political issues in the year running up to election. there have been a few noises recently coming from government circles that come autumn they will be looking into the kinds of fees, charges and arrangements operated by firms who deal with debt management etc. i think this introduces a significant risk not just to sentiment in this area, but also potentially to the margins that fairpoint can extract. may be entirely wrong of course, dyor and & that. but it tipped the balance for me to sell out of fairpoint. i remain in cello, very happy here. am considering moving some more funds in during april, the outlook is good.

lol, in hindsight selling out most of my MAJ at 578 appears to have been a good move! phew. this recent fall looks a little overdone to me, have bought back in a few bets for december.

agree on some of the quieter shares giving good returns. i've been in fairpoint too for a while, doing well there, but don't think it's ever crossed my mind to post there. it just gets on and does its stuff, along with a reasonable divi

that's nice. spent my day fretting over the usual bunch of potentially volatile, actively traded tech and mining stocks, and didn't even notice this had happened 'til i saw it on the news tonight. lol, i'm in the money, i'm in the money. i didn't see this coming at all, just thought this was a nice quiet long term hold for decent dividend and moderate steady growth possibilities. how nice to be surprised the right way round for a change.

REM will have more corporate business to do soon with BCN, as Lenigas will want to be in full control of the Mexilit project, so will be interesting to see if Hume get more business from that too. REM not finished its manoeuvres yet, so if Hume stays buddies with DL they should have more in the pipeline.

gosh it's quiet in here. i sold out most of my MAJ around 578, but am wondering now whether to get back in again to hold for a year or so. good asset backing, decent yield around 3%, it's not about to multi bag but as a solid, still growing share with divi looks quiet cheap at this price. rather surprised at the market discounting it after that xmas statement. any views, or just me and my echo here?

hmm, changed my mind, sold out now as wanted to switch some funds to IOF where the profit-warning crash looks like a good buy opp. good luck to all still holding, best wishes for eventual take-out. (i'll kick myself if that happens soon, but that's life eh)
