it's not a rip-roaring roller-coaster like wrn or qpp, to be sure. well done on a patch of blue, good omen perhaps for 2015. giles hargreaves still holds and rates this one in the multi-cap fund.

trading announcement last year was on 22nd jan i think .... this rise in anticipation of update in next week or so? i can't see any specific date announced yet.

yes indeed, that's why i said "partially" priced-in, lots of uncertainty around these days re egypt and pretty much everything else in oil market, lol.

very good for credibility. horrible times for oilies, some, indeed perhaps many, will fail and die. but also, people know that those that survive may turn out be very good earners as prices recover medium/long term. good time to buy in, ***IF** you can spot who may survive and thrive. now that's a big, difficult, IF. these recent appointments are useful as straws in the wind about whether CoP will thrive or die; they are decent credible names appointed, who are unlikely to have come on board if they thought CoP would just shrivel. but short-term, probably still plenty of downside days for oil price still v possible, so sensible to assume there will be ongoing sp volatility. gla.
