Agreed. The big fall is not Really happening despite world markets dropping. Though I actually expected more of a rise over the 100 mark on the back of the timely IQE response last night, to the Muddy Waters episode. I guided its market conditions holding us at the moment.

They've extended the 12 noon auction by an extra 5 mins, but this has now been 15 mins and counting.....

Anyone have any idea of the current percentage of shorts in IQE? I know some have reduced but dont know what the percentage figure is as of today. Cheers.

The Lumentum report has certainly had an effect. Very good for IQE and its about the only share rising today in a quick snapshot of shares. Over 3.7% up for us and about 2.5% down on others. Great stuff and long may it continue.

Thanks gumbo. This does sound good then. SP holding a nervous line at the moment, but lets hope this gives it upward movement after the US opens, despite their futures looking dire. Good luck.

An inverted spread often means there are not enough shares in the market for the demand. This also happens at midday as there is an auction that lasts one or two minutes, so buyers and sellers are effectively closed out while the institutions bid and sell at auction.

Yes, on a day that looks like a blood bath for world markets, we are one of the only ones rising, so does look like a short position closing.

Yes PeterMunroe, its called a short squeeze. And the effect of the squeeze is an SP rise as buy backs continue with shorts closing.

The Apple report phase is over, now it�s a perfect time for shorters to attack again. Shadowfall�s timing is no surprise as they, and others will strike when there is no more positive news out there. Of course they will attempt to push the SP down, as the fearful will sell. The next potential upswing will be IQE�s March report, so they have a good six weeks to play this out. It�s all about timing, and either we stay strong and hold, or (for those of us in at a high price) sell and average down. The most important thing is to hold hold/get back in wherever possible and fight the storm ahead. This will be the next battle in this war, and we have to meet the challenge.

When the SP is flat, MMs can also drop a price to attract buyers in, thereby picking up volumes.

SP is being held down JC. Despite greater volume buys. Like so many days before this is being held down, I guess to allow shorters to close. Though of course the buys wont allow them to push the price down enough. So we have a stalemate with very little movement.

Lots buys over the last hour or so. The SP has been behaving oddly too. Stuck at 104 for the last hour. Looks suspiciously like its being held at this price to allow a short to be closed. SP should be moving up with the volume of buys. If it is a short being closed then I would expect this to rise once the price stops being held here.

Its also a possibility that their 1.40 buys will be held long, and that the 1.10 sell was a short opened to hedge. Looks like and each way bet to me.
