Oil giant BP has removed its chairman Albert Manifold with immediate effect over concerns including "bullying" and "overbearing" behaviour by him, the BBC understands.

The company said in a statement that his dismissal was a result of "serious concerns" related to "important governance standards, oversight and conduct".

Manifold's departure comes less than a year since he joined the company.

BP declined to comment on whether bullying behaviour was part of the reason for his immediate dismissal. The BBC has attempted to contact Manifold for comment.

One person close to the company said: "This is a big lever to pull, you wouldn't do it unless it was serious".

Iran aerospace chief warns of ‘decisive response’ to truce violations

The commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s Aerospace Force, Seyed Majid Moosavi, says it is prepared to respond following what he described as ceasefire violations by the US during ongoing peace talks.

In a post on X, Moosavi criticised ongoing diplomacy saying “negotiation with the enemy is pure loss”.

He said the air force – which oversees Iran’s strategic ballistic missile and drone programmes – remains “highly vigilant, fully prepared for a decisive, swift response,” and is awaiting final orders from the commander-in-chief.

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement accusing the US of breaching the ceasefire with “aggressive acts” in Iran’s Hormozgan region, where Bandar Abbas is located.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, says “we have reached a conclusion on a large portion of the discussion topics this is correct but this does not mean that the signing of an agreement is imminent”.

He also said:

Threats, pressures, depictions, and publishing caricatures are well part of politics in that part of the world. We pursue our work in the field of action. ‘Iran does not bow to force or threats’: Iranian lawmaker

Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei, a spokesperson for parliament’s powerful Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy, has put out a defiant statement amid efforts to reach a deal.

“During the military war, our tactic was an eye for an eye; in the diplomatic war, it is action against action,” Rezaei wrote on X.

“Do not believe the bluff of the failed president; time is against the Americans. If they want an agreement, they should negotiate; if they want $6 gas, they should stand firm and bluff until the grass grows under their feet. Iran does not bow to force or threats.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says a “pretty solid” proposal is on the table amid continuing efforts to reach an agreement with Iran, while insisting that President Donald Trump is “not going to make a bad deal”.
