Hi Element1. Great post Re OI. My view is the COMEX are off the scale desperate to hang on to controlling price discovery but are losing the battle. The main reason is the demand for physical. The is not enough large amounts "wholesale" to meet demand at this price and the easiest way for big buyers to get supply, at a discount, is to deal on the COMEX and stand for delivery. The controlling banks have shot themselves in the foot by suppressing prices and allowing big buyers to take advantage of the COMEXs Achilles heel. The COMEX was designed to be a cash settled market but with a process that allows traders, who want to, to take physical delivery. Most traders in the past have accepted cash settlement but this is changing. The massive spike in OI is due, imo, to the big players standing for delivery and this will be the end of the COMEX, and good riddance. ATB Speedy
