Hi TomE. Now you have spoilt my day. Gold has been confiscated in the past by Govs, if the no tax law stands for ISAs then i also hope it stands for Brits. ATB Speedy
Hi Meerkat. GGP is as good as it gets, derisked and a very good chance of further gains. If you put your spare funds in here the chances of it going to zero is almost nil, the chances of you getting all of your investment back is almost certain the chances of doubling is possible. Nothing ventured nothing gained. ATB Speedy
Hi Tig. I have this awful image in my head of you sitting in your chair wearing Panamas gold suspenders with your mitzunderpaddysbum and a look of horror as Rishi hooks £50k out of your ISA. Please make it go away. ATB Speedy
Hi Jerry. Interesting terminology "quasi miner". I agree, what is the point of reinventing the wheel. JV all the way (including SWAG) to selling the shiny stuff to the Perth mint. ATB Speedy
Hi Kn. You are correct silver Brits are burdened with VAT but no CGT. Most dealers will buyback silver Brits at or slightly above spot but it is still a pain. My silver Brits are held off shore (Zurich Airport) in a bonded store, no VAT no CGT. VAT will have to be paid if you take delivery. Hope that helps. ATB Speedy
Hi 5x5. Glad to hear of your profits and i agree ETFs do have a place in a portfolio in normal trading times. However, these times are far from normal. ETFs are successful because of their ease of trading but be assured you are not holding PMs you are holding paper. I hope you gave the tax man his dues when you sold your Krugs as they do carry a tax liability. Buying and storing coins could not be easier and most storage fees are tiny. ATB Speedy
Hi Tommy. There are many dealers, some of the best are Atkinsons, Chards and The Pure Gold Co. Britannias or Sovs are VAT and CGT free but carry a slightly higher premium the bars. Remember that bars carry a CGT liability. It is also a good idea to store them at the place of purchase to maintain good delivery status. Good hunting. ATB Speedy
Hi Tallchap. Gold is a small % of financial markets, when big funds like Blackrock and Berkshire Hathaway have a punt in the gold sector many followers follow. Many high net worth individuals are standing for physical delivery from contracts on the COMEX. It only takes a small % of total funds to come out of bonds and financial assets into the gold market to make a massive difference in the POG. JPM are net even in the gold market they have left their buddies out to dry holding massive ($35billion) short positions. It will not take much to push them over the edge and start a massive short squeeze. Thats when it will get really interesting. Load up with those Brits before it is too late. ATB Speedy
Hi Somewhat. Be very very careful when using ETFs. They are good for day/short term trading. When the big movement come it will be over the week end and it is almost certain there will be a default and you will be closed out Friday and paid out in worthless $s and miss the spectacular rise. I personally do not believe the P.M.s ETFs have the holdings they say they have. When JPM are the custodians you know it will end in tears. In hand physical is by far a better bet. ATB Speedy
Hi Costa. you say "Tig is one of the good guys". No he is not, he is a champagne guzzling, golf playing, octogenarian, Panama chasing, reprobate. my kind of guy. ATB Speedy
Hi Spy. I would like to draw to your attention to the fact that withholding insider information from the board is a criminal offence and the board police will be knocking, if you persist in in continuing to withhold information you will be placed on the naughty step. You have been warned. ATB Speedy
