Hi TMT. JPM have been very long physical gold for ages and are holding that position for the long term.

That does not stop them from gaming the system in the paper market for short term trading profit.

The silver market is minuscule and gold (compared to equities) is also a small market and most definitely was and still is manipulated by the banks.

At the moment it is being held around the psychological 5k/oz level. When physical buying overruns that position they will stair step to the next level of defence and play about for short term gains playing their paper games.

Not sure when that play will end but each year sees their influence diminish. ATB Speedy

Hi Autumn. All silver in the Uk attracts VAT without exception even second hand silver Britts. Dealers say VAT free but it is hidden in the premium. The VAT is included n the price, not added. It is easy to spot when comparing premiums for new and old, there is virtually no difference. The one and only way to avoid VAT is to not take delivery and buy in a bonded store but you will have VAT added at source if you ask for deliver from the bonded store. Hope this clears up the misconception of VAT free silver. It is just a sales pitch. ATB Speedy

Hi Tug. All silver including second hand britts attract vat if bought in the Uk. The only way around it is to buy and store in a bonded store. Check with the dealer to see if they offer that option. Silver Britts carry a huge premium and are not for short term but are CGT. Free. To play short term use a silver ETF inside an ISA. I strongly recommend not to use leveraged ETFs as silver is extremely volatile and you could get wiped out quick style. Contact several dealers to get the best deal but supply is tight

The price will be allowed to rise to entice the bets on the long side to increase, then a smash down end of the week to rinse some profit from the brain dead paper players.

If I was a market maker (bullion bank) on the COMEX that is what I would do.

For us physical/producer holders just sit back and enjoy the fun and games, unless of course you want to try and beat the professionals. ATB Speedy

Without going into detail the general consensus is

POG is going much,much,higher. ATB Speedy

Hi Tinners. I asked for a simple projection on future SP based on certain parameters. You used a POG at half of my 10k/oz and messed up on the AISC calculation by double counting some costs.

May I humbly suggest you leave predicting future SP to someone who is more capable. ATBSpeedy

Hi All. We are heading into an exciting week ahead for gold traders.

I see a relatively large pull back next week and then an equally large rebound the following week. This could be a very good opportunity to buy the dip then sit back and watch new ATHs coming in short order.

The COMEX is toast as a price discovery vehicle, with the Shanghai exchange now being in control. The SE in on holiday next week leaving the COMEX to play games and close their short positions. This will probably be one of the last opportunities for them to do so and I expect them to take the advantage with both hands.

Holders of physical can just sit back and relax, have a beer, smoke a cigar and watch the games unfold. ATB Speedy
