I was seriously tempted on open for that short , Id have done quite well out of it , but, well, was more intent in keeping the current portfolio on the straight and narrow ! see someone mentioning "takeover" rumours HB, however I dont see anything remotely concrete or for that matter, watery sand on that one ! However, over a longer term, they are well placed, have money in hand, and could potentially be sitting on some big reserves. You are spot on in the "explorers guzzling money" stakes, it is abit of a punt, the upside is huge, the downside is probably around 50% of your capital if it doesnt come off. And I am chuckling at "guzzling money quicker than lloyds" ! :)

at "wazzing in your Peroni`s". HB on "seeing", its a classic example why I get really annoyed at companies being able to stick "drilling related expenditure etc into the balance sheet as an asset". Intangibles/Drilling/Exploration, should be made to be expensed. You would think as a bean counter of the bean counting society, that Id be quite happy to allow for things that "bloat the asset value" of a company out... I think I may put forward a revision in the next to the next accounting standards revisions... No CAPEX or Intangibles allowed. Short, but sweet !

Nope, doesnt cost anything too move your stop loss, although someplaces it does cost to get a guaranteed stoploss.

really just need too think how much are you playing with and wheres the stop going to be if it goes titsup :) you just need to keep adjusting that stop loss locking in some profit, although sometimes it can just get a little bit exciting :)

was an easy one this morning given the RI, however a favourite is the ftse at 4500 or just over it, you can stick one on and normally get out around 4350 - 4400 which proves to be fruitfull !

Had a very decent day today, as May comes to the close, Im looking forward emensly to June. However right now portfolios nicely in the blue, which gives me a great deal of comfort given the way the markets have been this month. I hummed and hawed about putting a short on MEC this morning when it was 6% down, only to watch it go down down down, feel slightly sorry for those stuck in their. Didnt bother in the end, but mabye next time !

I dont know if any of you have an advfn account, but it is very handy for being able to export spreadsheets of companies based on a bucketload of criteria you set. Hell, if your very board, you can export the entire list :) However, if you can narrow it down, using some of the elements mentioned, it gives you some companies to start looking at. Bear in mind that some of these companies are at near a 52wk low for a reason, it would suprise you however how many arent that far of it for not really too much of a major reason. Muchima, I think Hoodles suffers a very similar problem to Barx, theyve been ramming home new accounts without the required hardware to support the platform. People think that because their cheaper trades, its worth it, I have a TDW account aswell as my selftrade account, although I have to say I do like selftrades trading platform of all Ive seen, very easy to use. Back to my list of 639 companies to look through I go :)

all makes perfect sense now that Ive had dinner and as Im pouring myself a nice chilled `Artois HFTH. Im amazed more people dont follow guano about tbh, the guy is a legend in his own right, some people dont quite know how to take the `wonderhorse. Those that do, have done not too badly out of it ! It seems their are alot of newbies looking for a quick buck HFTH, unfortunatly that quick buck normally ends up costing 10 ! Whilist my "shortcomings" in TA showed themselves to be just that, they do work very well for alot of people so its not one Ill knock. interms of the FA, as is shown in all my posts, english teaching was something I never quite got to grips with, as demonstrated with my overuse of the word "too" as opposed to "to". However numbers was always the thing I found easiest, I guess doing it as a day job does have its perks. HFTH. IT is quite comical at times that its either the press`s fault, the MM`s fault, or the man down the road at number 163`s fault. Like everything else, its all in the numbers. Im abit slow on the acryonyms tonight, TA , FA ? :) (I know, its been a hard week) It does amaze me how attatched people getto 1`s and 0`s or "paper certs". The heart rulling the head on alot of things which is what ends up costing some hard earned cash. Take WHY for example, their is still plenty of value in here, the big problem that it was pinged in the space of 3 days too stupid levels, which over time it will be worth, but over a 3 day spurt, well, take the money and run. Hows things your way, hope your holding up decently in this "mad may hare" :)

May I beleive is the 2nd worst month of the year stock wise, so if your portfolio is holding its own this month, then june always brings a step up. Seems to be the order of the day atm, dillution, dullution , dillution, hence why cash is king and those with it are very well placed. Ive had a very reasonable day today in the market and have just started to kick back for a long holiday weekend. Eye on the market tommorrow, with having a day off, other than that, things are looking quite lovely from my way.
