congrats to all evr holders, the last few weeks produced an excellent bounce for you. im shorting off todays high though, i think 80p will be tested over the next few weeks

I thought the DAX may be testing 9000 soon but its already clean through in after hours trading! 300 points knocked off in under 24 hours, tomorrow will be a big test to see if the markets hold or begin to capitulate

I was wondering when 6600 broke down if you had hopped back on the short! Soft support comes in at 6490 and hard support at 6400 but im not really looking for the long at this time. I do think 6000 will be tested in the near future. My ultra bearish view on the markets is the only reason I havent bought in here yet, but hopefully soon I will join the party :D

Excellent trading on the FTSE. It can be very tricky and stressful at the best of times. Im hoping over the next few years we will see 5000 or maybe even 4000. Both of which levels I would love to open very long term positions. As for EVR you will never pick the bottom precisely, anything within 10% I would say is a good call ATB fella

for those working the index watch 6600, its a big level. A close lower hints at continuation to 6400 but a solid hold could target new 52 week highs

im hoping MRW can pull itself back above 220 by the end of march, that would be a really good sign of recovery

Well the EVR downtrend seems to be loosening its tight grip. This would be my spot to buy if the wider markets were reasonably priced. If however the markets continue to move towards a more normal valuation it will at least make recovery here difficult. Stock charts like this tend to change after key intraday reversals. Alternatively the 45-50p spot seems irresistible, theres no doubt the price is crazy but whats cheap can always get cheaper in the short term!

when i started i used both traditional and spread betting. in the beginning i made a little from proper stocks and lost with the spread. now i make a little from spreads (mostly gold trading) but now make a solid return from real stocks. last year was my best yet with clean 160% profit spread between a max 10% of the bank roll in any one stock to minimise risk. im not expecting that much this year but anything over 50% would be excellent. my strategy is simply to buy the most undervalued assets on the market. last year i found several profitable companies on aim with a multiple in cash vs market cap. you need to search the underground of the market to uncover the stocks investors have forgotten about but they are out there waiting for you fella! just spotted your 14:19 post. thats sound advice on the spread betting. aside from experienced investors spread betting is useful for covering your "physical" stock positions when you feel youve done well and want to lock in profit but not actually sell the stocks. there is also a huge tax play here, if youve used all your 10,000 capital gains allowance but want so sell profitable stocks you can cover the physical value equally. this means you will either lose taxable money and gain it on the tax free platform or allows gains to be locked in until the new tax year rolls in my comments are expressed opinion only, not approved tax advice

thanks for the platinum tips, with such a limited global reserve held by so few companies my opinion is the metal price will go platinum over coming years :D just a matter of finding a company with huge resources and reasonable costs, ive traded AQP before from the current support level but im worried the chart may be about to break down so long term there may be a better spot. As for EVR theres a lot of gloomy people here, looks like the school of hard stocks recently! have to say that 45-50p spot looks increasingly likely. really thats the only chart structure to work with if your gonna trade levels here. judging by the losses people are claiming i should start a mailing list of stock tips, ATB jack/ EVR faithfull

the EVR and FTSE chart are looking a little suspect going into next week. are you spreading with a stop again or have you bought a lump for the long term? im trolling through results etc looking for a decent platinum miner atm, any tips in the sector?

im tempted to get some at this price but buying a house next week so all the stock money has gone into that. will have to buy some stocks soon though im fed up with window shopping! i recon a split target with half at a quid and half chasing two longer term is realistic. if your interested is small caps UKR looks interesting as a recovery play from the ukranian conflict, take a look, ATB

not too sure the bottom is in given the current chart setup versus the dizzy heights of the wider market. i am confident though this will play out well long term. looking at the weekly bars the stock seems to find key levels at even numbers, ie 1,2 and three quid. whats your target here?

yes, fair point on stops. the trouble is that accepting defeat goes against human nature. theres a reason only one in 10 make money spread betting yet most make money the traditional way. for what its worth to the holders here i dont expect EVR to make its way down to the mentioned support but for me it would be a price i couldn't ignore. looking around at the market today i only see risk, for the first time in years im completely out. just waiting for the huge correction that everyone has forgotten will happen eventually. not suggesting it will fall far enough but theres historical resistance turned support in the 45-50p zone. that would interest me to make a large move. with the possibility of a major collapse over coming months in china theres the potential for a firesale from already very low prices in this sector and asian markets. should it happen i would be moving the chips all in, especially directly into chinese indices for a long term play

the company is trading at a p/e of 1, and the shareholders assets valued at at tenth of actual value. marginal change as of the rise today but its absolutely compelling for a massive re-rate in the near future, stay tuned

cheers for that, you really know your doom prophets! on balance the rise is pretty modest today but i can see a long term uptrend developing in time to price in all the good news and undervaluation. im putting these little beauties in the drawer until much higher prices are reached, GL all

again the directors have knocked it out of the park, congrats to them for the good work. against a terrible gold price it brings home the scope for massive margins when the gold price comes back. as ever the general public are very slow to miss a trick here but i bought more and have increased my target expectations to a solid 30p

well, OMI again moving like a beautiful woman, in mysterious ways! im very surprised by the lack of buying pressure but as i keep saying the price will eventually catch up with the fundamentals. I like your target assessment asclypius, it will probably take a few years for gold to build back up but if willing to hold patiently the 40-50p zone is realistic. i love trading mining stocks due to the volatility, its a risky business but last year i had so many double bags from them i ended up focusing on them mainly, its the only sector i can see bargains with the main indices IMHO well overdone
