RE: Building17 Dec 2020 09:09
I also work in this industry and I believe current figures indicate there’s about 14,000 medium- and high-rise blocks that will need remediation across the UK. The majority of these buildings are out of warranty, and so current building owners have no legal recourse to get the original builder back in to fix it. As such, it’s an excellent revenue stream for a lot of companies, big and small. Kier, Morgan Sindall, Wates, and plenty of other names stand to make a fortune in cladding remediation works, fire stopping, fire doors, alarms, etc. And with the Hackitt Review recommendations coming in, building owners will have to demonstrate they are surveying properties for fire safety every 6 months (via certified professionals) which will be another massive ongoing revenue stream for Kier and similar firms IMO.
