Well I won’t be a millionaire with my holding. I bought a tiny amount of shares here yesterday as I was researching the weshop IPO and vela which led me to TSI. But I’m always grateful of any profit. Sounds promising, I’ll be watching closely what happens. Maybe I dropped lucky with my timing.
Yes but with another share. You can’t buy EUA on HSBC since their suspension. The reason they have told me multiple times when I’ve complained is that they have had occasions where they have been unable to get the shares but they have to honor the investors purchase (I imagine by paying more for them). This in my view was because EUA was suspended for a while but I don’t know. Anyway, I’ve no idea if this could be the same issue with AJ bell and vela but vela were recently suspended so I guess it’s possible. Whatever the reason I don’t think it’s a sinister one. When I wanted EUA shares I had to open an account with ii to buy them.
I would agree if they were buying going concerns. But Boohoo seem to pounce at the last moment and get a very good price. I don’t think they would ever pay a huge amount to buy out a brand. They got warehouse/oasis for about £5m which is a drop in the ocean to them so they could easily cover this cost in sales.
In normal circumstances it may be in their interests to delay to try and get the price down. But given the urgency of the covid situation, I can't imagine that tactic being used, I imagine any interested pharma would want to get going asap to sell as many as possible over winter....
Not sure if this is old news but Boohoo have a recycling program https://www.boohoo.com/page/sustainability-guide.html
It says they are seeing 60,000 items recycled a month at the bottom.

Hi Steveknowsnothing - I bought some shares in boohoo in July 2014 (I checked my bank statement for the date). Nowhere near as many as PP as I don’t have that kind of money. I then in 2016 I put every penny I could get my hands on into boohoo until I had 30,000 shares. Yes that goes against all stocks advice and I knew it did at the time. I was probably more over exposed than people power as I put everything I had in. Maybe for all we know 100k was a fraction of PPs money. But all I can say is at that time, people saw Asos Mark 2 in boohoo. I did. And that’s why I went all in. Sold most last year. I wouldn’t probably go all in to anything again as in general I don’t think it’s sensible but I’m just trying to give an insight to the promise that boohoo was showing at the time to those who were watching. Maybe I just got lucky too, probably I did. But there was a lot of conviction at the time. And they’ve always been great at marketing which is something that gave me confidence to hold too.
Photos of Boohoo’s Sydney office and they are recruiting out there. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/boohoo-group-plc_are-you-obsessed-with-our-sydney-office-as-activity-6707605023284621312-ZIeI
Spaghetti hoops I will answer you. There is a new director (James Normond) going to be leading Vela who has a proven track record with AAA whose share price multiplied a lot with his involvement there. People are getting excited and buying as they are hoping James will make announcements soon and improve the fortunes of the company. It’s largely on speculation at the moment as it doesn’t seem like anyone knows what he will do, just the odd rumour. But look out for RNS / announcements next week And in the coming weeks. The company also has a lump of cash sitting ready to go (£1m or something I don’t recall the exact amount) so they are expecting that to be put to good use and waiting to hear what it will be used for. If you’ve held here for a long time I would keep holding and see what happens in the coming weeks.
Thanks to Mac for this initial post.
I’m wondering what happens to a shorter if the sale goes through before they close the short. Or couldn’t that happen? Do they have to buy them back at the sale price? Seems like quite the risk.
(I bought EUA shares the day after suspension ended)
I'm thinking the whole market is cautious today in case the americans have another paddy later and go into freefall again. I think if the news had been released yesterday we may have had a bit more of a rise.
(For info. I hold but don't post much.)
I’ve said this before so at the risk of repeating myself (sorry!) Primark (ie cheap fashion) thrived in the last recession. This bodes well for boohoo (and having ex primark John Lyttle as CEO)
This share has been a nice surprise for me. I bought at 56p and it promptly dropped so I didn’t expect much and now I wish I’d bought more! I’m going to keep holding and see how it pans out.
I’m quite chilled about next week. Admittedly this is partly because I’m very derisked on Boohoo. However, aside from that I think with the results coming up soon that a lot of people will want to buy in before results. So I think IF there is a dip it will be short term. I don’t think the BOD need to do an RNS because it’s old news and everybody already knows they are doing the review and their own factory. Good luck all.
Would they be able to implement CGT tax changes with immediate effect or would it likely start in the next financial year? I would have thought 1st April as it might be tricky to backdate gains from 1st April this year. But I don't know....
