I think what BSMA was trying to point out is benefit fraud is minute when compared to all other frauds including PPI yet for some strange reason you are not prepared to highlight other frauds which probably indicates some guilt.
Is it because other fraud benefits the better off?

They are both fraud, you cannot defend either.

If you believe the bulk of the £1.8bn is probably fraudulent it's not benefit scroungers which are estimated to cost £2bn a year who are destroying this country, it's the guy next door.

Boomer,the poor would benefit more from measures to use energy more efficiently rather than building additional coal generating plants.
Friends in Canada buy petrol at 65p a ltr but as they travel further in inefficient vehicles they spend 6 times more than my 10 ltrs a week and the same can be said for cheap electricity.They haven't a heat pump,solar panels,batteries or even LED lighting and although they do use a woodburner it's not plumbed into a wet system so their electricity consumption is 10 times that of my 3.5 units a day average.

BB,i think the best you can hope for is the Conservatives to be the largest party but with a resurgent Liberal party who will not be repeating the coalition of 2010,nore is it likely the DUP will help and the Brexit party will have no seats.
No Tory party in recent times has ever held government with less than 40% of the electorate so he needs to achieve PM's May percentage of 42% to stay still.

If as you suggest we end up with a hung parliament then guess what the only way left is to go for another referendum!

Not sure if all this talk on rate cuts is constructive. We lived with 0.5% for a decade and banks remained profitable and when they did fall lower briefly after the referendum to .25% the Bank of England stepped in with cheap money which has to be repaid by end of 2020.
Had to look at the other Metro bank in the States which has a whopping 4.3% NIM compare that to our circa 2%, you can't carry on like that unless you can increase your fee income which our Metro says "Fee growth is expected to continue into Q4 2019".

The telegraph might as well give up as a national daily if they are going to report the possible loss of £2m loan in a bank with £20bn of assets.
Our local rag is reporting a similar shortfall in the district council's car parking revenue......ON PAGE 7!

Some very good points made today but the key one in my view is Re Du Re's " I think Metro need it too", this is regarding a bid.
Metro could entrench itself with little growth and last another decade but this hasn't been their intentions to date.
The UK banking regulators having said they want challenger banks have put every obstacle they could in their way and combined with very tight margins has only favoured the existing larger banks.
There are so many large towns and cities yet to have a Metro style bank,a bank which is well liked by the customer yet over a quarter of its revenue comes from fee's- a perfect combination.
With the right financial backer keeping borrowing costs in line with the other big players and hopefully keeping the brand (a must I feel), someone is going to lay their hands on the £1.7bn NAV.

The hedge funds unlikely to make any further progress will reduce back to 5% and without further news the SP in my opinion will drift back to 300p.I personally for now would be happy with that.

How do you explain PWC auditors didn't pick up this discrepancy of £900m of loans being misallocated. Metro might have **** up but any competent audit company would check back to confirm the loans are allocated correctly.
The government promises year after year to clean the industry up yet no punishment of sufficient penalty is ever dished out.
FCA why don't you do your job properly and clear up the audit industry which would save investors and yourselves a lot of time and trouble or does the FCA allow bad auditing to raise revenue??

Not many, which includes ii are going to part with their shares and sell at a loss, the hedge funds will therefore find it extremely difficult to buy and if they don't buy it's dead money for them.
There is real value here,they sold what they didn't want(the crap) and only took a loss of £2.5m on £521m.

Not a sparkling outlook however the hedge funds have been hammering this business as if it was a Thomas Cook/Kie/Debenhams which it isn't.I feel they will reverse back down to 5% and find more lucrative targets and for that reason I see the SP rising.
I have to keep reminding myself it has £21bn of assets,NAV of £1.7bn very little intangibles,FFS why aren't we in the FTSE250?

In any news feed a RNS has the greatest importance and if it finished with the above I take it as factual.
I still believe ENA are a key player here being the most volatile. They are prepared to bounce quickly in either direction and usually ahead of the curve, although the recent reduction around the successful MREL bond was not followed through because of little appetite from the others.Not having to report positions under 3% of holdings in a company hides their true position which is probably one of more to gain from a rise in SP.
IMHO

That the gradual drift down over the past fortnight has been investors reducing their exposure to metro leaving only the chance of a further fall to a hedgefund induced one on results day which will retrace itself with the same investors coming back in after the majority selling at a loss and trying to recoup.
By sticking the only thing you miss is the chance to trade on results day unless you want to get in deeper.
