Creat Group is a private investment company with headquarters in Beijing. It was established in 1992 by its Chairman, Dr Yuewen Zheng. Dr Zheng previously worked in several major Chinese governmental organisations including the Ministry of Railways and the State Bureau of Seismology. He is currently Vice President of the All-China General Chamber of Industry and Commerce, vice president of the China Non-Governmental Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Association. He has a PhD in Finance and Bachelors degree in Finance and Economics.
Creat now has net assets of approximately US $630M, with nine domestic and overseas subsidiaries, and over 5,000 employees. It is a leading member of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), which acts as a bridge between the Chinese Government and private business engaged in industry and commerce. For 2008 Creat reported profits of close to US$100M. Creat has certifications in ISO9001 International Quality Management System, HSE and API.
Creat has a diverse range of interests including electronics, fruit juices, biological and pharmacy, banking, real estate, health management and mining. The group appears to have been very good at spotting opportunities in the market place and capitalising on them. Some notable companies in which Creat has invested include:
• Pinggao Electric, a manufacturer of high voltage switchgear, listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange;
• Shanghai RAAS, a market leader in blood plasma derived medicinal products, listed on the Shenzen Stock Exchange; and
• Andre Juice Company, a world leader in apple juice concentrates.
Creat currently owns a lead-zinc mine in Liaoning province, a molybdenum- tungsten mine in Jiangxi province, and a gold mine in Sichuan province.
In late 2007, Creat finalised a convertible loan agreement for Stg 4.3M pounds with Zeehan Zinc Ltd, operator of the zinc, lead and silver mine of the same name in Western Tasmania. The mine is currently on care and maintenance while the ore reserves position is reassessed. Creat now holds 70% of Zeehan, the name of which has been changed to Creat Resources Holdings Ltd (CRHL). CRHL is now intent on developing an international portfolio of mining assets, commencing with the holding in Galaxy.
