The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Nigel.... I was in the red before Manic Monday.... then a similar amount to you in the black. Sold 10%, at 222, but should've sold half ..... was then back in the red on vaccine day... bought more when I could, and now back in black like the majority here. Nail biting ride, and I've been way too emotionally invested... lots of lessons learnt. I've stayed gutsy, but still, I've also been a little lucky not to lose money. I've learnt to be more responsible now, and top slice a bit more.
Sounds like we both have enough it in. Though if it drops to 190 I'd find it hard not to top up. I can't see it opening at a price and falling thereafter.... so I still think buying on opening (if results positive obvi) could be a safer bet, though of course less financially rewarding.... but all imo. I think we forget, as a board, how knowledgeable we all are. We all know this isn't just for covid, and the market may well be playing catch up when this lands. I think it will be volatile few months ... but we're all used to that. And remember, volatile looks a lot prettier when we're all sitting on 100% ++ gains!
Good luck everyone.
Nigel. The Friday before manic Monday the price closed at 36p, it opened Monday morning at 70p..... before going up to £2.50 before end of day (I think it even peaked at £2.80, but doubt anyone was able to sell at that).
My point is, even if results drop on Monday, you'll still be ok to buy first thing (with even less risk than today). Infact Nolupus, a LTH, took his biggest position, with much less risk after a successful P2, on that Monday morning.... bargain at 75p too as it turned out.
wpa5... RM has commented that RNS's take a lot of work (they are not a large Pharma).... and he tends to put as much info into one as possible, in order that he doesn't have to spend the time doing another one for a while.
But you are right, things do occasionally get missed because of the fact they are often so packed full of info, and it is just so exciting to get one, that I have, more than once, had to go back again to re-read more thoroughly.
Doc.... that surprises me. Dumb must've had a serious nervous breakdown then, because I am invested in both Pensana and Rainbow, and he has knowingly posted some outrageous lies on there too. He's too clever not to know that he is not posting lies, so, as you say... something terrible must've happened to him indeed.
Glad I 'held my breath' and doubled up, brought my average down to 58p.... long way to go, but have a good feeling about this now.
Thanks Matterhorn... that clearly explains it, and makes total sense.
They are both doing what it says on the tin, and, if I was a wealthy private investor, who couldn't be bothered to invest my money myself, I'd be very happy with Polar's strategy, if they picked companies like Synairgen early on, and took all the risk out of it for me, therefore protecting my capital amount and make me 10% a year..... who wouldn't be happy with that.
Not saying that's what they're doing... but that's clearly their aim. I definitely do not believe that it is anything sinister to do with them getting out because they 'know something' that no-one else does.
J_CIT.... you are living in a bubble if you think this is close to over. In England we have incredibly relaxed covid rules, so I can see why you may be deluding yourself. I am currently in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, everyone is wearing a face mask, OUTSIDE, and not just the normal one, one that is 10 layers thick and uncomfortable. Walking into a restaurant last night the girl behind me was turned away because her green pass wouldn't scan, same happened at a museum. I have to be here for work, but I can't wait to come back.... it's all just too difficult.
Yes Scaramouche.... this 61.4% would include trials that failed efficacy half way through... trials that never even finished... and we are passed all of that, we have finished.... so the % must increase quite a bit after that point.
Some trials also fail due to problems with finance, and adverse side effects. Neither apply here.
Perhaps I am looking at this with rose tinted heavily invested specs on.... but I see this is 90% chance of success. Especially given that we've passed from Active 2 to 3 as well. Plus all the other positive interferon data coming to light every day.
I mean 43.20.
Finally bought back in today at 42.2 after some funds came in... fingers crossed this is the floor. My average was 90, so I have a way to go to break even. If it goes lower I will buy more. Great little company this.
As much as I find Ndn71 quite arrogant and think he tends to comment without thinking or taking the time to ingest in what someone else is trying to say before jumping on them with a wrong interpretation and blurting out a contrary opinion within seconds... as he has done with me.... in his defence I do think he has been misunderstood in the last few days. I also think he has reigned it in a bit of late. Not saying there is still some room for improvement... but he's not all bad.
I believe what he was trying to say, and I agree, is that why would Polar sell and Polygon buy based on the same information if they were both to call RM.
There are still some very long term investors (15 years) who would call or text RM, and they would be very careful not to put him in the position of asking him anything that could be construed as insider information, and RM has far too much integrity to answer if they did. Would he give anything away by his upbeat tone or comments.... I believe so, yes. But I also believe that Polar have a responsibility to their shareholders to limit their liability, even if there is only a 10% chance of failure. Polygon don't have to do that. Hence Polar taking some profit... it's sensible... boring but sensible. I don't think they believe that this will fail any more than any of us do.
I keep forgetting that Active 2 Phase 3 is no longer blinded... which is also quite exciting for obvious reasons.... and therefore a conclusion to that may come sooner than we think.
The day before Phase 2 results (Friday) the SP rose gradually from 32p to 36p, which was an unusual rise given that Aurora (regretfully) were selling heavily into the SP and it had dropped for several weeks before that. I was waiting for that rise to happen on Friday, yesterday, and it didn't, so I assumed that Phase 3 results wouldn't come in next Monday... however with Polar selling into last weeks SP, Monday may still not off the cards, though if I had to put money on it I'd put it on 17th Jan.
Though this Monday would of course be just lovely!
Have a great rest of Weekend all LTH.
Longlad.... I'm invested here, and have been for 2 years. My point was that I would be adding at this price but can't until SNG results are in. And I suspect others are in the same boat.
jeronamo.... I think a lot of people are invested in SNG and DDDD.... but you are right SNG news is imminent and therefore money will be going there rather than here this week. SNG should have their news within the next couple of weeks, if not Monday.... then I think you'll see some of their profits coming back here.
HelloSanDiego.... I'm inclined to agree that mid to late January sounds about right. Though I would mention that due to the unexpectedly high efficacy of Phase 2, Synairgen re tested the results not once but twice, as they could not believe what they were seeing. This added to the delay of 7 weeks, it would've been much shorter otherwise.
Faye.... Active 2 is all about proving the use of Synairgen to keep people out of hospital. That was what our home trial was about too. Sprinter is about using it in hospitals.... and then being able to finish the course of treatment at home.
Of course, it may not work.... but if it does, it will be able to keep a great many people out of hospital.
Apologies to the rest of the board for stating the obvious, but clearly some people here are not as researched as others.... and some people are just new.
A very Merry Christmas everyone.... just my daughter and I at home today, she is recovering from Covid, thankfully very well.
