The United States has been a net petroleum exporter for the last three years, exporting more petroleum than it imports. In 2023, the US was a net petroleum exporter of 1.64 million barrels per day (b/d):
Imports
The US imported about 6.48 million b/d of crude oil, mainly from Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Brazil.
Exports
The US exported about 10.15 million b/d of petroleum to countries including Mexico, China, the Netherlands, Canada, and Japan.
