I know I love a conspiracy theory, I am usually wrong, I hope we don't get a bid based on 40% above the current (possibly manipulated) share price for the last so many days.

Hopefully with two large mining shareholder that won't happen.

The large sells do seem strange, last time it was just Lombard after they had a merger.

I can't predict future, but I do dream of this country doing some joined up logical thinking. Perhaps Brexit will cause it to happen. Bring on gasifiers and bring back glass milk bottles, for a start!

I do really study the past business life of those running a company I might invest in now. One black mark and I walk away. The people running this passed the test with flying colours. They also passed the test when under pressure.

Highest nickel price in three months.

I sadly have a red line (few around I know!) caused by investing too much in a share once and coming out with a very little left. I put in my maximum here some months ago, have watched it fall, been able to cope most of the time, because of my self imposed limit.

Those of you with no red lines could do very nicely if you buy at this share price, only in my humble opinion of course.

Supply of nickel increased by 7% last year, but demand increased by 8%. Overall nickel growth is expected to grow by an annual compound growth rate of 5%, demand for battery metal will grow by an annual compound growth rate of 18% to 2025.
The nickel market will remain in deficit for many years and Indonesia is likely to reinstate a full ban on exports of nickel ore from 2022.

For the nickel industry to supply the demand that is definitely coming, the nickel price needs price to be much higher.

With the nickel deficit expected to increase in coming years it could easily increase to $50,000/t again.

Even without the boom in EVs there will be a shortage in production. It will take a lot of projects at least 10 years to get to production.

A tragedy like this does make you more cautious, my daughter lives near a reserviour, thankfully not below it, but as she walks across the dam most days, I looked to see how it was constructed. One of the first dams to be built of sand, don't know if it it the last! Made from china clay waste with an asphalt membrane, checked daily it is said. I have been told the village some miles below has a warning bell in the village shop, have never liked to ask if it is true.

When HZM bought Vermelho it was said that one of the reason Vale sold was that they had annoyed the authorities there in some way, so were finding progressing permits very difficult. HZM enjoy a better relationship, have supported local schools for a while, share price went down when they announced that, strange reaction!

Will be interesting to see if Vermelho has battery grade nickel, one would want to know that if you were interested in both mines.

What a terrible thing to happen. Miners have paid the price through the centuries, you always hope these things are in the past. Puts my petty wants in perspective.
