Andrew McCartney founded Whitespace I believe and is a director of this software company. They have an AI OS already in deployment with the UK military and national security agencies that is primed for further development of capabilities it seems. Now in this new strategic venture they bring in senior defence company exec to chair who has deep insight into the evolving needs of military stakeholders, military special forces expert, another guy who has experience of AI/wargaming/space conflict simulations and they are going to be able to take this to the nth level in my opinion. They obviously have the trust, connections, insight, experience and technical capabilities and they are launching from a position where the UK has already adopted their AI infrastructure at least in part

Yes I am struggling with this one . I see what you mean about the diversification providing insurance but it also increases costs obviously as at any time you will have some under utilised capacity and r&d, depreciation in all areas. Difficult balance. Perhaps it comes down to company size and I wonder if a company of this smaller size can thrive making these advanced semi conductors which involves high costs given their position in the supply chain and the inevitable demand fluctuations. They obviously would have hoped to grow into a billion mcap company and outgrow these problems but the sales just haven't materialised and margins too low like you say. The fact that they are willing to invest so much in technology whilst the market moves on infers a very competitive environment which would be price sensitive(therefore low margins as you say) and you need massive orders to make good profit. To keep up they must be taking the risk to develop the products whilst the really big players are clinching the largest orders. You can't outcompete companies many times larger on price but perhaps even if their products are superior they daren't ask more than a small % more as their customer's sales will be very price sensitive. That's probably it in a nutshell.

On the flip side they are still in a very exciting area of technology and if a Taiwan sale achieved and a positive development/strategy is announced investors could rally around this share again and it could spike. But they need to secure large orders using a differentiator that they just haven't been able to to do yet. Im not sure they can do it but i havent pressed the sell button yet. Their annual report is full of nonsense that just isn't going to help but i know they aren't the only company that do this. Think some have more nonsense in than others maybe this one has too much considering their delicate position

The annual report and accounts is hard work and its winding me up reading it. Heat stress through climate change with resultant days off is a risk identified for the business. I know a risk -not enough people are buying your wafers and you are spending too much making them. I admit i don't have a huge amount of knowledge in the technologies involved but it seems to me as if they are trying to cater to too many market segments which is a risky strategy for a smaller player with accumulates huge overheads. They would have been better becoming a market leader in fewer technologies and then diversifying. Confusingly they might sell their most profitable business to concentrate on their core (or unprofitable) offering. The fact that they have gone into so many products areas sort of implies they didn't really know which product would be successful which shows a lack of vision and understanding. Have I got all this wrong? I do own a few shares and im on the verge of dumping them. Dumping, not selling. The fact i bought the shares in the first place shows i too have a lack of vision and understanding evidently

How much would revenue have to grow to break even vs what's the revenue potential do you think? Anyone who has been following/invested in this LT have an idea. I thought 4x revenue to break even

I think consensus for drop was combination of 'buy on rumour sell on news' short term trading and some btc purists wanting out as Nick mention other crypto

No 'reformed' trader sits up to the early hours of the morning at the weekend constantly slating a company he doesnt have an interest in out of the goodness of his heart. That narrative is more far fetched than the Sheikh and his business dealings. Lets judge these guys on progress attracting investments, new appointments etc. I think pension funds is a leap too far at this stage so we should be looking at initial smaller but still significant investments. Evidence of how these funds are managed will attract the big boys (and girls lol) further down the road

Thats exactly right and if they do bring in some institutional investors through their connections which we know they already have and through the reputation of the board and advisors then retail are going to be tripping over themselves to buy this share. I remember a few days ago someone saying that there is something much bigger at play and there definitely is - that's now admitted and revealed . MBS investments who have untold connections with investors and Nick Thurlow clearly has the blessing of the Qatari Sheik in this new enterprise as he has become a key investor here. n top of that there is only potential upside from the gold. Today is perhaps a combination of some buy on the rumour sell on the news clever trading and also bitcoin enthusiasts having a tantrum unnecessarily.
